iDR-8 User Guide 29
Daisy chaining iDR-8 monitors The active
monitor bus can ripple through multiple iDR-8 units so that the
last in the chain can be used to listen to any audio signal in the
system. With no active monitor selected the signal from the
previous unit is passed on to the next. Selecting an active
monitor overrides the signal from the previous unit. Using the
active mouse monitor you can switch between the iDR System
Manager sessions and conveniently listen to any point in any
unit on the same headphones.
Use well shielded balanced TRS audio cables to interconnect
the monitor L and R signals over distances up to 250 metres.
Take care to run the cables in such a way to avoid damage or
interference pickup.
Using the Monitor as Additional Channels
You can use the monitor L and R TRS sockets as additional
channel inputs and outputs. In the unexpanded iDR-8 these
combine with the XLR sockets to provide a 10x10 matrix as
shown below.
Select Monitor IN Left and Right as the source for input
channels of your choice, for example 9 and 10. Tick
Independent Outputs in the Monitor Settings window to use the
monitor output sockets with output channels of your choice, for
example 9 and 10.
