REMINDER
An
Alpine
aftermarket
type
CD
changer
is
not
compatible
with
a
factory-installed
OEM
audio
system.
If
you
want
to
connect
a
CD
changer
to
your
system,
your
only
options
are
the
following:

an
Alpine
CD
changer
that
comes
equipped
with
a
FM
modulator
package.
This
allows
for
easy
installation
to
the
factory
audio
system
via
the
FM
antenna.
You
can
purchase
an
Alpine
head
unit
that
has
CD
changer
controls
to
replace
your
factory-
installed
audio
system.
These
units
allow
for
a
simple
one-step
connection
to
an
Alpine
CD
changer.
.
Your
only
other
option
is
to
purchase
a
changer
that
was
specially
designed
as
an
accessory
for
your
vehicle
directly
from
your
car
dealer.
Please
read
this

MANUAL
thoroughly
to
familiarize
yourself
with
each
control
and
function.

In
case
of
problems
when
installing
your
CHM-S601,
please
contact
your
authorized
ALPINE
dealer.
PRECAUTIONS
Perform
the
installation
at
a
location
that
is
level.
Make
sure
the
parking
brake
is
on
and
the
ignition
is
OFF.
Be
sure
to
connect
the
color
coded
leads
according
to
the
diagram.
Incorrect
connections
may
cause
the
unit
to
malfunction
or
damage
to
the
vehicle's
electrical
system.
This
unit
is
designed
for
12
VDC,
negative
ground
systems.
Make
sure
that
your
vehicle
has
this
type
of
electrical
system
before
connecting
the
power
cable.
When
installation
and
connections
are
completed,
check
the
followings:
a)
Connections
are
proper.
b)
Operation
of
brake
lamps,
horn
etc.
are
proper
with
the
ignition
ON.
c)
Operation
of
audio
units
is
proper
with
the
switch
ON.
Do
not
attempt
to
repair
or
service
the
unit
yourself;
return
the
unit
to
your
nearest
authorized
Alpine
Service
Station
for
servicing.
When
your
car
is
parked
for
a
long
period
of
time
during
the
summer
or
winter,
the
temperature
inside
the
car
fluctuates
greatly.
The
temperature
inside
the
vehicle
should
be
between
+60°C
and
—10°C
(+140°F
and
+14°F)
when
operating
the
unit.
Cautions
during
Playback
e
Playing
a
disc
while
driving
on
a
very
bumpy
road
may
result
in
skips
but
this
will
not
scratch
the
disc
or
damage
the
player.
The
noise
level
on
compact
discs
is
much
lower
than
on
analog-type
records
or
tapes.
Therefore,
before
playing
a
disc,
decrease
the
volume
to
its
minimum
level.
After
the
disc
is
inserted
and
begins
playing,
the
volume
may
be
safely
adjusted
to
a
comfortable
listening
level.
Abrupt
increases
in
output
level
can
damage
your
speakers.
When
the
CHM-S601
is
used
in
combination
with
a
cassette
player,
the
"123456",
which
indicates
discs
are
loaded
or
not,
will
be
all
lit
in
the
display
of
cassette
player
whether
the
discs
are
actually
loaded
or
not.
Cautions
on
Use
of
CD
Magazine
Do
not
insert
heat-deformed
discs
into
the
CD
magazine.
Do
not
forcibly
remove
the
CD
magazine
by
hand.
Only
one
disc
can
be
inserted
in
each
housing
slot.
Attempting
to
insert
another
disc
ee
may
cause
damage.
Only
compact
discs
containing
the
mark
shown
can
be
used.
