Base Plate
External Tooth Star Washers
In an effort to provide maximum ground to the lift
system, eight 3/8" external tooth star washers are
supplied with each lift. Position star washers as
follows. Note: See External Ground Cable and
Chassis Ground Notice at right before installing
mounting bolts.
Through Floor Only: When base plate mounting
holes penetrate the floor only, position a star washer
between the floor and the 2-1/2" diameter body
washer as shown below.
Through Reinforcement Brackets: When rein-
forcement bars are used, position the star washer
between the chassis and the bar (see Figure L).
Through Chassis: When securing base plate
mounting bolts through chassis subframe members,
position a star washer between the chassis and the
3/8" diameter flat washer (see Figure L).
Note: Body washers are not required when
underfloor brackets are used or bolts penetrate
chassis subframe members.
External Ground Cable: L915 pump modules
feature an external ground cable. Route the exter-
nal ground cable through the floor grommet (details
on page 17 of this manual). Secure the ground
cable below the floor with one of the base plate
mounting bolts. Use of the star washers, the
external ground cable, and following the chassis
ground procedures outlined below will provide
optimum ground.
Chassis Ground Notice: Remove (grind, sand,
etc.) powder coating (paint) from the area around
one or more lift base plate mounting hole(s) and
remove any undercoating, dirt, rust, etc. from the
underside of the vehicle floor metal surface equal in
size to the mounting hardware in order to provide
optimum ground to the electrical system. Apply a
protective coating of grease to the mounting hole(s)
and underside of the vehicle where bare metal is
exposed to prevent corrosion. Failure to do so will
void warranty of certain electrical components.
