precautionsmustbeobservedatall
times:
1. Readallmanuals
includedwiththis
productcarefully.Be
thoroughlyfamiliar
withthecontrolsand
theproperuseoftheequipment.
2. Followalllocalelectricalandsafety
codesaswellastheUnitedStates
NationalElectricalCodes(NEC)and
OccupationalSafetyandHealthAct
(OSHA).
3. Onlypersonswellacquaintedwith
theserulesofsafeoperationshould
beallowedtousethecompressor.
4. KeepvisitorsawayandNEVERallow
childrenintheworkarea.
5. Wearsafetyglassesandusehearing
protectionwhenoperatingtheunit.
6. Donotstandonorusetheunitasa
handhold.
7. Beforeeachuse,inspect
compressedairsystemandelectrical
componentsforsignsofdamage,
deterioration,weaknessorleakage.
Repairorreplacedefectiveitems
beforeusing.
8. Checkallfastenersatfrequent
intervalsforpropertightness.
Motors,electrical
equipmentandcontrols
cancauseelectricalarcs
thatwilligniteaflammablegasor
vapor.Neveroperateorrepairinor
nearaflammablegasorvapor.Never
storeflammableliquidsorgasesin
thevicinityofthecompressor.
Never
operate
compressorwithout
abeltguard.Thisunit
canstartautomatically
withoutwarning.Personalinjury
orpropertydamagecouldoccur
fromcontactwithmovingparts.
9. Donotwearlooseclothingor
jewelrythatwillgetcaughtinthe
movingpartsoftheunit.
Compressorpartsmay
behoteveniftheunitis
stopped.
10.Keepfingersawayfromarunning
compressor;fastmovingandhot
partswillcauseinjuryand/orburns.
11.Iftheequipmentshouldstart
tovibrateabnormally,STOP
theengine/motorandcheck
immediatelyforthecause.Vibration
isgenerallyanindicationoftrouble.
12.Toreducefirehazard,keepengine/
motorexteriorfreeofoil,solvent,
orexcessivegrease.

withasettingnohigherthan
200psifortwo-stagecompressors
or150psiforsinglestage
compressorsMUSTbeinstalled
intheairlinesorinthetankfor
thiscompressor.TheASMEsafety
valvemusthavesufficientflow
andpressureratingstoprotect
thepressurizedcomponentsfrom
bursting.Theflowratingcanbe
foundinthepartsmanual.The
maximumsafepressureratingfor
thepumpis200psi(two-stage)or
150psi(singlestage).Thesafety
valveintheintercoolerdoesnot
providesystemprotection.
Maximum
operating
pressureis175psifortwo-stage
compressorsand135psiforsingle
stagecompressors.Donotoperate
withpressureswitchorpilot
valvessethigherthan175psi
(two-stage)or135psi(single
stage).
13.NeverattempttoadjustASME
safetyvalve.Keepsafetyvalve
freefrompaintandother
accumulations.
Never
attempttorepairor
modifyatank!Welding,
drillingoranyother
modificationwillweakenthetank
resultingindamagefromrupture
orexplosion.Alwaysreplaceworn,
crackedordamagedtanks.
14.Tanksrustfrommoisturebuild-up,
whichweakensthetank.Make
suretodraintankregularlyand
inspectperiodicallyforunsafe
conditionssuchasrustformation
andcorrosion.
Drainliquidfrom
tankdaily.
15.Fastmovingairwillstirupdust
anddebriswhichmaybeharmful.
Releaseairslowlywhendraining
moistureordepressurizingthe
compressorsystem.
SPRAYINGPRECAUTIONS
Donot
spray
flammablematerialsin
vicinityofopenflameornear
ignitionsourcesincludingthe
compressorunit.
16.Donotsmokewhensprayingpaint,
insecticides,orotherflammable
substances.
17.Useafacemask/
respiratorwhen
sprayingandsprayina
wellventilatedareato
preventhealthandfire
hazards.
18.Donotdirectpaintorothersprayed
materialatthecompressor.Locate
compressorasfarawayfrom
thesprayingareaaspossibleto
minimizeoversprayaccumulationon
thecompressor.
19.Whensprayingorcleaningwith
solventsortoxicchemicals,follow
theinstructionsprovidedbythe
chemicalmanufacturer.
Installation
Disconnect,tagandlock
outpowersourcethen
releaseallpressurefrom
thesystembeforeattemptingto
install,service,relocateorperform
anymaintenance.
Donotliftor
moveunitwithout
appropriatelyratedequipment.Be
suretheunitissecurelyattachedto
liftingdeviceused.Donotliftunit
byholdingontotubesorcoolers.Do
notuseunittoliftotherattached
equipment.
Neverusethe
woodshipping
skidsformountingthecompressor.
Installandoperateunitatleast
24inchesfromanyobstructionsin
aclean,wellventilatedarea.The
surroundingairtemperatureshould
notexceed100°F.Thiswillensure
anunobstructedflowofairtocool
compressorandallowadequatespace
formaintenance.
