12-9 Quality Assurance
The 46-241852G1 Quality Assurance and Performance Phantom is used by both the customer and service
person to assess image quality in accordance with BRH requirements ( 21CFR,section 1030.33). Use of this
phantom is described i.0n CT 9800 Quick Operator’s Manual.
The aforementioned operator’s manual instructs the customer to perform QA checks on a daily basis. Service
persons, however, shall perform QA checks after anyone of the following events have occurred:
1. System Installation.
2. Tube Change.
3. Detector Change.
4. KV/mA cals.
5. Periodic Maintenance.
NOTE: The service person shall complete all of the procedures depicted in CT 9800 Quick Operator’s
Manual with the following additions or modifications described in subsections
12-9-1 (Slice Thickness), 12-9-2 (Low Contrast Detectability), and 12-9 -3 (Modulation Transfer Function)
in this manual.
12-9-1 Slice Thickness
The spec for slice thickness, per the procedure in the operator’s manual, is as follows:
• 10 ± 1 mm. (10 mm. aperture setting).
• 5 ± 0.5 mm. (5 mm. aperture setting).
• 1.5 ± 0.5 mm. (1.5 mm. aperture setting).
