cigarette, or turn on any gas or
electrical appliance.
[_ Do not touch any electrical switch;
do not use any phone in your building.
r_ Clear the room, building or area of all
occupants.
_-_Immediatelg call gour gas supplier
from a neighbor's phone. Follow the
gas supp/ier's instructions carefully.
_-_If you cannot reach your gas supplier,
ca//the fire department.
California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act
Thisact requiresthe governor of California to publish a list of substances known to the state to cause
cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm and requires businessesto warn customers of potential
exposure to such substances.
Gasappliancescan cause minor exposureto four of these substances,namely benzene,carbon monoxide,
formaldehyde and soot,caused primarily by the incomplete combustion of natural gas or LPfuels.
Properlyadjusted dryers will minimize incomplete combustion. Exposureto these substancescan be
minimized further by properly venting the dryer to the outdoors.
WATER HEATER SAFETY
Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a water heater that has not been
used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas can be explosive under these circumstances.
If the hot water has not been used for two weeks or more, prevent the possibility of damage or injury by
turning on all hot water faucets and allowing them to run for several minutes. Dothis before using any
electrical appliance which isconnected to the hot water system. Thissimple procedure will allow any
built-up hydrogen gasto escape.Sincethe gas isflammable, do not smoke or use an open flame or
appliance during this process.
