INSTALL WIRELESS DOOR & WINDOW CONTACTS
INSTRUCTIONS - INSTALLING A WIRELESS CONTACT - HONEYWELL 5816
1- Carefully open the Honeywell 5816 WMWH wireless contact package and lay out all of the
included parts. Locate the gray 3M mounting tape, if purchased.
2- Open the cover of the wireless contact by gently depressing the thumb tab on the one end and
gently pull the cover up.
3- Insert the supplied lithium CR123 battery carefully observing the
polarity, keeping the (+) oriented towards the thumb tab used to
rrelease the contact cover previously removed.
4- Using a #1 flat head or smaller screwdriver, gently depress the
small tab visible on the underside of the contact, to allow the plastic
mounting base to slide off of the Honeywell contact. This mounting base will mount to the door
or window first.
5- The contact assembly consists of two (2) main components - the contact itself which contains
a small magnetic reed style switch located near the battery, and a magnet which activates the
switch wswitch when in close proximity. When the switch is activated it is CLOSED The contact itself will
be mounted to either the door or window, and the supplied magnet will be installed on the door
frame/trim or window trim/upper window lip.
6- Using either the supplied double sided tape (GOOD) or 3M gray
double sided tape (BETTER) , attach the appropriate sized
mounting tape to the underside of the mounting base (Approx. 90%
the size of the base) being sure to leave the exposed tape area still
pprotected until you are ready to install.
7- Locate a suitable area on the door or window to be protected,
keeping in mind a few important items:
a) Door- The contact should be mounted on the upper corner of the door, vertically at the
edge so the magnet will be within 1/2” of the contact when mounted on the door trim.
b) Window - On double hung windows the contact can be mounted on the top ledge of the
bottom window, away from the locks or tilting releases, and the magnet can be mounted
