4| TRACTION CONTR OL™ (If equipped)
TheTraction Control™ system allows your vehicle to make better use of
available traction on slipperysurfaces, especially snow and ice covered
roads.If you get stuck in snow or ice or on avery slippery road surface,try
switching the systemoff.This may allow excesswheel spin to “digthe
vehicleout and enable a successful“rocking”maneuver.The tractioncontrol
indicator flashes during a Traction Control™ system event.
5| ANTI-LO CK BRAKES
ABS provides enhancedsecurityby detectingwheel lockup in hard braking
situations.The light will illuminate when you start your engine;however,if it
stayson,continues to flash or fails to illuminate,see your dealership's
servicedepartmentimmediately.(Wheels sometimesaccumulate brake
dust. Clean them with Motorcraft Wheel and Tire Cleaner,available from
your authorized Ford,Lincoln or Mercury dealer.)
6| SPEED CONTROL
Toengageyour speed control,make sure you’retraveling at or above
30 mph (48 km/h) and press ON. Toset aspeed, press SET +. To return to a
previously set speed,press RESUME (you must be traveling above 30 mph
[48 km/h]). To disengage, depressthe brake pedal or press OFF.To set a
higherspeed,press and hold SET +; releasewhen you’vereached the
desiredspeed.
7| CHECK ENGINE
It's normal for warningand control lights to illuminate when you start your
engine.If the light remains on, have your vehicle serviced at your first
available opportunity.If the light is flashing,it indicatesengine misfire,
which could damage your catalytic converter. Drive cautiously (avoiding
heavy acceleration and deceleration)and have your vehicle serviced as
soon as possible.
8| STEERING WHEEL, RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROLS
Radio controlfeatures:PressVOL up or down to adjust the volume.
In radio mode, press NEXT to select a preset station from memory.In tape
or CD mode,press NEXT to listen to the next selectionor track.
ClimateControl features:Press TEMP up or down to adjust the temperature.
9| OVERDRIV E
The normal driving position for the best fuel economy with your
automatic transmissionis Overdrive. It will increase your fuel
economy when cruisingat a constantspeed for an extended
periodof time.
Overdrive:Overdrive on (off switch not depressed) is the normal
drivingpositionfor this automaticoverdrive transaxle.
Todeactivate Overdrive:If your vehicle is equipped with a column-
shift transmission,press the transmission control switch located on
the end of the gearshiftlever.
10| REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER
Push to clear the rear window of thin ice and fog. The defroster turns
off automatically after a predetermined amount of time,or when the
ignitionis turned OFF.

CLOCK (I f equ ipped with Sing le CD Premi um Au dio System )
PressMENU until SELECT HOUR or SELECTMINSis displayed.Use the left
arrowof the SEL control to decreasehours/minutes,or the right arrow of
the SEL controlto increasehours/minutes.
PressAUTOMATIC and use the temperature controlsto select the temperature you prefer.
This system will then heat or cool to achieve that temperature,determining fan speed,airflow
location and choosingbetween use of outside or recirculated air.
If unusual conditionsexist,the manualoverrides allow you to select airflow locations and fan
speed.Toreturnto automatic control,press AUTOMATIC.
PressOUTSIDETEMPto displaytheoutsidetemperature. PleaseconsultyourOwner’sGuidefordetails.

1| HEADLAMP CONT ROL
Headlamps:The firstpositionclockwisewillilluminatethe parkinglamps,
instrumentpanel,license plateand tail lamps.The secondposition clockwise
willilluminatethe headlamps.
Autolamps:Turn the control counterclockwise to have the light-sensitive
systemautomaticallycontrolyour headlamps.
High Beams:
Your high beam controlsare located in your turn signal stalk.
Push it forward to activateyour high beams; pull it towardsyou to deactivate.
DaytimeRunning Lamps Feature(If equipped):This feature automatically
turnson the high beamheadlamps with reducedoutputwheneverthe key
is in the ON position,the transmission is not in PARK,and the low beam
headlamps are not on.
Dimmer:To adjust the brightness of your instrument panel, rotate the
dimmercontrolto the left or right.
Fog Lamps(If equipped):To turn on the fog lamps when the headlamps or
autolamps are selected,pull out the headlampswitch.
2| ADJUSTABLE PED AL S (If equipped)
Your acceleratorand brake pedals can be adjusted within approximately
2.5”of originalplacement to provideyou with an extra measure of driving
comfort.Stop your vehicle,put the gearshift lever in P (Park)and
pressthe rocker control to adjust the pedals towards you or away from you;
adjustuntil you find the position that offers the greatestcomfort
and control.
3| TURN SIGNAL AND WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER
Push the stalk down to activate your left turn signal;push up to activate the
right turn signal.Rotate the windshieldwiper controlforwardor backward
to the desiredinterval low- or high-speed position.Rotate the control
forwardfor fast intervals;backward for slow intervals.Push the end ofthe
stalk to activate the washer.For a longer
wash cycle,push and hold.
