4.10 Data Backup in the Control-Power (ELP 235) and
Selection/Display (EW 235) Modules
The control saves certain data in the EW 235 (selection/display module) and
on the ELP 235 (control-power module) data flash card. This includes the
following data:
Operator-level settings, such as the display standby function
Mapping between EW 235 and ELP 235, such as machine-type coding
System components, such as registered EZL 235 modules
Basic service-level settings, such as maximum permissible exhaust
temperature
Operating data, such as total program starts
Saving data in two different locations improves security for the entire control module.
After an electronics fault (ELP 235 or EW 235) or a firmware update (flash),
at which point part of the control software must be overwritten, the backup
application writes the saved data to the restored electronic and calibrates it.
Now all of the electronics assemblies are synchronized again. After a fault
has been remedied or one or both electronic modules (ELP 235 and/or EW
235) has been replaced, the service technician can perform a data backup,
assuming, of course, that once valid data has been written to the restored
electronic, it should be saved to the other electronic as well.
Initial requirements:
1. Disconnect the NTC plug (N1L_ST6) from ELP 235 (control-power
module). The backup function is part of the "locked-out" service mode
functions.
