Basic Operations of Photographing
This section explains operations common among different camera menus.
Common items of [CAM MENU]
The upper half and bottom of the [CAM MENU] contains buttons and indicators common among different [CAM MENU]
screens.
Common items of [CAM MENU]
[MENU SELECT] button
The name of the current menu is shown. Displa
the submenu, allowing you to switch between
menus.
[CAPTURE] button
This button records the image displayed on the
screen as a still image.
[E.ZOOM] button
Use this button to magnify the image.
[SCENE/CSM] button
This button configures the scene mode and the
custom settings.
[X] (close) button
Close the menu.
[LEVEL] mete
This meter indicates the exposure status.
[WHITE BL] button
Sets the white balance.
[Switch display] button
This button switches the [CAMERA] screen to
the short screen. This button is shown as the
[
MAIN] button in a [CAM MENU] other than
[CAM MENU: CAMERA], as well as in [CAM
MENU], [VIEW MENU], and [TOOL MENU].
[FREEZE] button
Pressing this button displays the still image at
the time of pressing. Pressing it again cancels
the still image mode.
DS camera head display
Displays the connected DS camera head.
[EXP CMP] button
Changes the value of automatic exposure.
Detailed setting area
This area includes buttons specific to the
[CAMERA (long)], [IMAGE], [NR/SD/SET], or
[SHOT/REC] screen.
Comment display area
This area displays the scene mode name and
custom setting comment (for [CAM MENU]), o
the comment for calibration registration (fo
[TOOL MENU]).
[FOCUS] indicato
DS-L3 detects the contrast of the image and
indicates the focus condition in 12 levels.
