Preparing the Camera
Charging the battery
The included battery charger (AC cable or plug-in
type) differs depending on the region where you
purchased the camera. If you received a plug-in type
battery charger, plug it directly into an AC outlet.

Battery comes partially charged. Before use, be sure
to charge the battery until the charging indicator goes
off (up to 2 hours).
If the charging indicator does not light or it blinks, the
battery may not be inserted correctly or the battery or
the charger may be broken.
Loading the battery and the
xD-Picture Card™ (sold separately)
into the camera
Do not insert anything other than an xD-Picture Card
or the microSD Attachment into the camera.

Insert the battery by putting in the ▼ marked side
fi rst, with the B marks toward the battery lock knob.
Damage to the battery exterior (scratches, etc.) may
produce heat or an explosion.
Insert the battery while sliding the battery lock knob in
the direction of the arrow.

Slide the battery lock knob in the direction of the
arrow to unlock, and then remove the battery.
Turn off the camera before opening the battery/card
compartment cover.
When using the camera, be sure to close the battery/
card compartment cover.
Insert the card straight until it clicks into place.
Do not touch the contact area directly.

Setting the date and time

Press the n button to turn on the camera.
The date and time setting screen is displayed when the
date and time are not set.

Using the fl ash

Press the # button.

Use mn to select the setting option, and press the
B button to set.
Option Description
FLASH AUTO
The fl ash fi res automatically in low-light or
backlight conditions.
REDEYE
Pre-fl ashes are emitted to reduce the
occurrence of red eye in your photos.
FILL IN The fl ash fi res regardless of the available light.
FLASH OFF The fl ash does not fi re.
Using OLYMPUS Master 2
Install the OLYMPUS Master 2 software by referring to the
included installation guide.
Connecting the camera
to a computer

Make sure the camera is turned off.
The monitor is off.
The lens is retracted.

Connect the camera to a computer.
The camera automatically turns on.

Use kl to select [PC], and press the B button.
The computer automatically detects the camera as a new
device on the fi rst connection.
Windows
After the computer detects the camera, a message
indicating setup completion appears. Confi rm the
message and click “OK”. The camera is recognized as a
removable disk.
Macintosh
If iPhoto has started, exit iPhoto and start
OLYMPUS Master 2.
Starting OLYMPUS Master 2

Double-click the OLYMPUS Master 2 icon.
Windows
appears on the desk top.
Macintosh
appears in the OLYMPUS Master 2 folder.
Browse window appears after starting the software.

Shooting with the optimum
aperture value and shutter speed
(P mode)

Press the n button to turn on the camera.
If P mode is not displayed, press the K button
several times to select it.
Press the n button again to turn off the camera.

Hold the camera and compose the shot.

Press the shutter button halfway down to focus on the
subject.
When the camera focuses on the subject, the exposure is
locked (shutter speed and aperture value are displayed),
and the AF target mark changes to green.
The camera was unable to focus if the AF target mark
fl ashes red. Try focusing again.

Charger la batterie
Le chargeur de batterie fourni (type câble
d’alimentation ou enfi chable) varie selon la région
d’achat de votre appareil photo. Si le chargeur de
batterie fourni est un chargeur de type enfi chable,
branchez-le directement à une prise secteur.

La batterie est livrée en partie chargée. Avant l’utilisation,
vous devez charger la batterie jusqu’à ce que l’indicateur
de charge s’éteigne (2 heures maximum).
Si l’indicateur de charge ne s’allume pas ou s’il clignote,
la batterie peut ne pas être introduite correctement ou
la batterie ou le chargeur peut être abîmé(e).
Insérer la batterie et la carte
xD-Picture Card™ (vendue
séparément) dans l’appareil photo
N’insérez dans l’appareil photo rien d’autre que la
carte xD-Picture Card ou l’Adaptateur microSD.

Insérez d’abord la batterie par le côté qui porte
l’indication ▼, avec les indications B orientées vers
la touche de verrouillage de la batterie.
La batterie risque de chauffer ou d’exploser si son
revêtement extérieur est abîmé (rayures, etc.).

Insérez la batterie tout en faisant glisser la touche de
verrouillage de la batterie dans le sens de la fl èche.
Faites glisser la touche de verrouillage de la batterie
dans le sens de la fl èche pour déverrouiller, puis
retirez la batterie.
Eteignez l’appareil photo avant d’ouvrir le couvercle
du compartiment de la batterie/carte.
Lors de l’utilisation de l’appareil photo, n’oubliez pas
de fermer le couvercle du compartiment de la batterie/
carte.
Insérez la carte bien droit jusqu’à ce qu’elle se mette
en place avec un léger bruit sec.
Ne touchez pas la zone de contact avec les mains.

Régler la date et l’heure

Appuyez sur la touche n pour allumer l’appareil
photo.
L’écran de réglage de la date et de l’heure s’affi che si ces
dernières ne sont pas réglées.

Utiliser OLYMPUS Master 2
Installez le logiciel OLYMPUS Master 2 en vous reportant au
guide d’installation fourni.
Connecter l’appareil photo à un
ordinateur

Assurez-vous que l’appareil photo est éteint.
L’écran est éteint.
L’objectif est rétracté.

Connectez l’appareil photo à un ordinateur.
L’appareil photo s’allume de lui-même.

Utilisez kl pour sélectionner [PC], puis appuyez
sur la touche B.
L’ordinateur détecte lui-même l’appareil photo en tant que
nouveau périphérique à la première connexion.
Windows
Une fois l’appareil photo détecté par l’ordinateur, un
message indiquant la fi n du réglage apparaît. Confi rmez
le message et cliquez sur “OK”. L’appareil photo est
reconnu en tant que disque amovible.
Macintosh
Si iPhoto est en cours d’exécution, quittez iPhoto et
lancez OLYMPUS Master 2.

Double-cliquez sur l’icône d’OLYMPUS Master 2.
Windows
apparaît sur le bureau.

Prendre des photos avec une
valeur d’ouverture et une vitesse
d’obturation optimales (mode P)

Appuyez sur la touche n pour allumer l’appareil
photo.
Si le mode P n’est pas affi ché sur l’écran, appuyez
plusieurs fois sur la touche K pour le sélectionner.
Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche n pour
éteindre l’appareil photo.

Tenez l’appareil photo et cadrez la photo à prendre.

Enfoncez le déclencheur à mi-course pour faire la
mise au point sur le sujet.
Une fois la mise au point effectuée sur le sujet, l’appareil
verrouille l’exposition (la vitesse d’obturation et la valeur
d’ouverture s’affi chent) et le repère de mise au point
automatique (AF) devient vert.
clignote en rouge, cela signifi e que l’appareil photo n’a pas
réussi à faire la mise au point. Reprenez la mise au point.

La batería viene parcialmente cargada. Antes de
usarla, asegúrese de cargar la batería hasta que el
indicador de carga se apague (hasta 2 horas).
Si el indicador de carga no se enciende o parpadea,
puede que la batería no esté insertada correctamente
o que la batería o el cargador esté estropeado.

No introduzca nada que sea distinto de la tarjeta
xD-Picture Card o del Adaptador microSD en la
cámara.

Inserte la batería introduciendo primero el polo que
lleva la marca ▼, con las marcas B orientadas hacia
el botón de bloqueo de la batería.
Si se daña el exterior de la batería (rozaduras, etc.),
ésta puede recalentarse o explotar.

Instale el software OLYMPUS Master 2 consultando la guía de

Cuando se inicie iPhoto, salga de iPhoto e inicie
OLYMPUS Master 2.

Apunte la cámara y encuadre la toma.

Presione el botón disparador hasta la mitad de su
recorrido para enfocar el objeto.
Cuando la cámara enfoca el objeto, se fi ja la exposición (se
muestran la velocidad del obturador y el valor de apertura),
y la marca de destino AF cambia de color al verde.
Si la marca de destino AF parpadea en rojo, signifi ca
que la cámara no se ha podido enfocar. Intente volver a
enfocar.
