Problem: Polaris 140 appears to get stuck
repeatedly at the water line.
Solution: 1. Using the flow indicator (#24),
verify that the cleaner is receiving
the correct amount of water flow.
See page 7.
2. Verify the flow regulator (#19) is
clear of debris. See page 11.
3. Adjust the hose weight (#23) posi-
tion farther away from the cleaner
or add one additional hose weight.
4. Using the flow indicator, adjust the
water flow to the lower end of the
water flow range. See page 7.
Problem: Polaris 140 does not travel to all
areas of the pool.
Solution: 1. Using the flow indicator (#24),
verify that the cleaner is receiving
the correct amount of water flow.
See page 7.
2. Verify that the hose is the correct
length and the hose weights
(#23) are positioned properly.
See page 6.
3. Rotate the steering skirt (#15) to the
opposite side of the cleaner.
4. Verify that the swivel (#1) on the
cleaner turns freely while the
cleaner is operating.
5. Reposition any eyeball fittings
installed on the return lines so the
flow will move the hose and cleaner
to all areas of the pool.
Problem: Hose becomes tangled.
Solution: 1. Using the flow indicator (#24) ,
verify that the cleaner is receiving
the correct amount of water flow.

2. Verify that the swivel (#1) on the
cleaner turns freely while the
cleaner is operating.
3. If the Polaris 140 is installed on a
dedicated suction line, attach the
45° elbow (#20) to the universal
adapter (#18). Angle it upward and
attach the hose. Note: It is impor-
tant that the hose remain below
the surface of the water to prevent
air from entering the hose. See
page 5.
Problem: Air bubbles come out of the return
line during operation.
Solution: 1. Using the flow indicator (#24),
verify that the cleaner is receiving
the correct amount of water flow.

2. Verify that all hose connections
are secure.
3. Verify all skimmer connections
and adapters are secure.
4. Check each hose for possible
leaks.
5. Contact your local Polaris dealer.
Problem: Print on a vinyl liner is wearing off.
Solution: 1. Refer to the warning on use of the
Polaris 140 Cleaner in a vinyl liner
pool located on the first page of
this manual.
2. Verify that you are using the
white shoe (part number 8-6007),
NOT the gray shoe, with your vinyl
liner pool.
3. Contact the manufacturer of your
vinyl liner for further assistance.
Problem: Marring is apparent on the surface
of a fiberglass pool.
Solution: 1. Refer to the warning on use of the
Polaris 140 Cleaner in a fiberglass
pool located on the first page of
this manual.
2. Verify that you are NOT using the
Deflector Ring (part number 8-6050)
with your fiberglass pool.
3. Contact the manufacturer of
your fiberglass pool for further
assistance.
