Important Information
The Polaris 140 automatic pool cleaner comes ready to connect to a pool skimmer or a 1-1/4" to 2"
female pipe fitting on a dedicated suction line. We recommend using a dedicated suction line
if available.
The following are important points to remember when installing and operating the Polaris 140.
Always disconnect the hose when cleaning or backwashing the pool filter.
Flush out new plumbing lines before installing the Polaris.
Do not use the Polaris to remove plaster dust in new pools.
Always remove the Polaris before allowing swimmers to enter the pool.
Always handle the Polaris with care. Do not let children or pets play with the Polaris; it is not a toy.
Never handle the Polaris when operating.
When the cleaner is not operating, always use the handle to pick up the Polaris.
Always remove the Polaris from the pool before chemical shock treatments. As a general rule, any
pool water that is unsafe for swimming, is unsafe for the Polaris.
Carefully adjust the length of the hose using the instructions on page 6.
When the Polaris is not in the pool, the surface disk and steering skirt should always lay flat to
prevent any warping. Disconnect the hose sections and lay them flat; do not coil.
By following these simple guidelines, you can help to protect against injury and prolong the life of your
Polaris 140.
U.S. Patents: 6,112,354; D436,700. Other Patents Pending.

WARNING: USE OF POLARIS 140 IN A VINYL LINER POOL AND A
FIBERGLASS POOL
VINYL LINER POOL: Certain vinyl liner patterns are particularly susceptible to rapid surface wear or
pattern removal caused by a variety of objects coming into contact with the vinyl surface, including
pool brushes, pool toys, floats, fountains, chlorine dispensers, and automatic pool cleaners. Some
vinyl liner patterns can be seriously scratched or abraded simply by rubbing the surface with a pool
brush. Ink from the pattern can also rub off during the installation process or when it comes into
contact with objects in the pool. In order to enhance the performance of Polaris cleaners in vinyl liner
pools and to reduce the possibility of pattern removal, abrasion or markings on vinyl liners, Polaris
requires that the consumer use the white shoe (part number 8-6007), not the gray shoe, included
with the Polaris 140 Cleaner. Use of the gray shoe in conjunction with a vinyl liner pool will void
Polaris’s warranty. To achieve the best performance from a Polaris cleaner, please remember to
carefully follow Polaris’s installation instructions. In particular, carefully follow Polaris’s instructions
regarding hose length and setting and maintaining the proper flow rate. Polaris is not responsible
for, and the Limited Warranty does not cover, pattern removal, abrasion or markings on a vinyl liner.
FIBERGLASS POOL: The Deflector Ring (part number 8-6050) is not for use in a fiberglass pool.
Polaris is not responsible for, and the Limited Warranty does not cover, damages caused by the use
of the Deflector Ring in a fiberglass pool.
