Ever since launching its flagship Z series, Sony Mobile has
been working to make the vision of “One Sony” a reality for its
customers across the world. It has continued to bring together
expertise from its Bravia
TM
and Cybershot
TM
divisions to help
revolutionise its mobile camera and screen technology and
now, with the new slimmer, waterproof and dust-tight (IP65/68)
1
Xperia Z3, it is taking another huge step in that journey by
integrating Sony’s entertainment and gaming offers in brand
new ways.
This guide is designed to provide you with some easy-to-use
tips and assets, as you try out Xperia Z3. Throughout this quick
reference guide there are hyperlinks to mini-videos that further

Battery life that last for up to 2 days

:
Alongside waterproofing, battery life is consistently one of the top areas where consumers want
innovation. Tweaked settings across the phone reduce its power consumption and this has been
combined with a high-density 3100mAh battery to provide up to two days’ battery life. You can find out
more about how this claim has been tested here. In addition to this, Sony has updated its Battery
STAMINA mode to squeeze even more juice out of the new battery by turning off unnecessary
applications when the screen is off.
Tip 1: Try loading up the settings app, and going in to power management. You can flick STAMINA
mode on and off to see the kind of difference it can make.
A screen that uses less power and yet is still the world’s brightest

.
The IPS display on Xperia Z3 combines a Full HD TRILUMINOS
TM
display for mobile with Live Colour
LED and X-Reality for mobile, plus new contrast enhancement at the pixel level to increase the
brightness of the screen. It pairs this with a new approach to power-saving by giving the screen its own
dedicated memory. The memory caches screen information of static images, reducing the need to
constantly refresh the display. In doing so it saves on battery life, allowing Sony’s brightest screen yet to
also be its most efficient.
The world’s best camera and camcorder, now even better:
Xperia Z3 builds on the legacy first introduced with Xperia Z1, using a
1/2.3” Exmor RS for mobile sensor partnered with a G-Lens and its BIONZ
for mobile image processor. Now with a new 25 mm wide-angle lens, an
ultra low light mode that allows photographers to shoot using ISO 12800,
and SteadyShot™ with Intelligent Active Mode a new, improved image
stabilisation mode for video, Xperia Z3 is building yet further on its
predecessors’ capabilities.
Tip 2: Try taking a photo of a friend in a low light environment using Superior Auto mode. The
camera will automatically use the best ISO setting to provide a clear photo. Compare it to photos
taken with a lower ISO setting (such as ISO 100) in manual mode or by a different smartphone
camera
In addition to the improved camera Sony has also introduced the next generation of its signature Xperia
Camera apps including AR fun, Sound Photo, Face in Multi-camera and more. These are available by
hitting the mode selector button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Tip 3: Try using the Face in app for a quick demo. Simply switch to Face in mode and grab a photo
of the scenery with your own reaction included.
