Starter Motor Components

Starter Motor Removal and Installation
B827H11906002
Removal
1) Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the
battery (–) lead wire. Refer to “Battery Removal and
Installation in Section 1J (Page 1J-13)”.
2) Remove the right footrest mudguard. Refer
to“Exterior Parts Removal and Installation in Section
9D (Page 9D-3)”.
3) Remove the starter motor lead wire (1).
4) Remove the starter motor.
Installation
Install the starter motor in the reverse order of removal.
Pay attention to the following points:
• Apply grease to the starter motor O-ring.
: Grease 99000–25010 (SUZUKI SUPER
GREASE A or equivalent)
CAUTION
!
Replace the O-ring with a new one.
1. Housing end (outside) 7. Washer set : 3.5 N⋅m (0.35 kgf-m, 2.5 lb-ft)
2. Brush holder 8. Armature : Apply grease to sliding surface.
3. Brush spring 9. Housing end (inside) : Apply moly paste to sliding surface.
4. O-ring 10. O-ring : Do not reuse.
5. Brush terminal set : 7 N⋅m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.0 lb-ft)
6. Starter motor case : 10 N⋅m (1.0 kgf-m, 7.0 lb-ft)
