FAE Mulching Head Daily Maintenance Guide
The following inspection items must be completed
each day before operation of the mulcher:
Inspecting the hydraulic fittings:
1. Before using the mulcher, verify that all hydraulic couplings are undamaged.
2. Hand tighten the top connector, going clockwise until the connector is fully seated.
3. Hand tighten the bottom connector, going counter-clockwise until the connector is fully seated.
Inspecting the electrical connectors:
Before using the mulcher, verify that both electrical connectors to the attachment are undamaged and properly connected.
If connectors are damaged call Tracked Rentals for assistance.
Greasing the main bearings:
1. Before using the mulcher, use a grease gun to add grease to the main bearings using the grease pins located on either side of
the rear of the mulching head.
2. Remove excess grease with a rag.
Verifying the attachment is locked to the machine:
Visually inspect the locking tabs behind the mulching head to insure that they are pointing inwards (towards each other) to verify
that the mulching head is locked into place.
Verifying the drum is free of blockage:
1. Turn on the skid steer and lift the mulching head so that the drum can be inspected.
2. Turn off the machine.
3. Remove any material stuck behind the drum.
Inspecting the teeth for damage:
1. Turn on the skid steer and lift the mulching head so that the teeth can be inspected.
2. Turn off the machine.
3. Visually inspect the teeth to verify all of them are in acceptable condition. Teeth that are missing bolts, nuts or are in any other
way majorly damaged are not safe to use.
4. Spin the drum by hand as needed to expose the next tooth.
If any teeth are damaged please take photos and call Tracked Rentals.
Testing the mulching head before operation:
Before using the mulcher, allow the mulching drum to come up to speed for 15 seconds to verify that the attachment is fully operational.
Contact Tracked Rentals and do not operate mulcher if you have any safety concerns.
