12) Inspection of Valve Spring
1. Measure valve spring free length a. Replace if the length is
less than specified value.
2. Measure valve spring inclination b. Replace if it is over
specified value.

12. Compress valve spring 5 using a commercially available
valve spring compressor 6, remove cotter 7, and then,
remove spring 5 and valve 8.
Valves, springs and other related parts should
be arranged in the order they are removed.
13. Remove stem seal 9.
