GeneralPrecautionsforRemovingandInstallingHydraulicSystem

BeforeRepairorReplacementofComponents
1.Beforeremovinganypartsfromthehydraulicsystem,parkmachineona
levelsurface,applyparkingbrake,lowercuttingdecksorattachmentsand
stopengine.Removekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.Cleanmachinebeforedisconnecting,removingordisassemblingany
hydrauliccomponents.Makesurethatallhydrauliccomponents,hose
connectionsandttingsarecleanedthoroughly.Alwayskeepinmindthe
needforcleanlinesswhenworkingonhydraulicequipment.
WARNING
Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system,allpressureinthesystemmustberelieved.SeeRelieving
HydraulicSystemPressure(page5–4).
3.Putcapsorplugsonanyhydrauliclines,hydraulicttingsandcomponents
leftopenorexposedtopreventcontamination.
4.Putlabelsondisconnectedhydrauliclinesandhosesforproperinstallation
afterrepairsarecompleted.
5.Notethepositionofhydraulicttings(especiallyelbowttings)onhydraulic
componentsbeforeremoval.Markpartsifnecessarytomakesuretheywill
bealignedproperlywheninstallinghydraulichosesandtubes.
AfterRepairorReplacementofComponents
1.Checkoillevelinthehydraulicreservoirandaddcorrectoilifnecessary.
Drainandrellhydraulicsystemreservoirandchangeoilltersifcomponent
failurewassevereorsystemiscontaminated(seeFlushHydraulicSystem
(page5–91)).
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposing
hydraulicuidandlters.
2.LubricateO−ringsandsealswithcleanhydraulicoilbeforeinstallinghydraulic
components.
3.Makesurecapsorplugsareremovedfromthehydrauliclines,hydraulic
ttingsandcomponentsbeforereconnecting.
4.Usepropertighteningmethodswheninstallinghydrauliclinesandttings
(seeInstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittings)
(page5–9)andInstallingHydraulicHosesandTubes(O-RingFaceSeal)
(page5–7)).
5.Afterrepairs,checkcontrollinkagesorcablesforproperadjustment,binding
orbrokenparts.
6.Ifpiston(traction)pump,frontwheelmotorsorrearaxlemotorwasremoved
frommachineforservice,llhousingthroughcasedrainwithnewhydraulic
