Tool Inspection Process

Check the operating hours on the hour meter, then perform the necessary maintenance procedures as specified in the following table (for complete

procedures, refer to the Operator’s Manual):

Maintenance Service Interval Maintenance Procedure

After each use

• Check for missing or damaged parts, especially safety devices, shields, guards, and decals; ensure that the

machine starts and operates properly.

• Tighten all fasteners.

• Check the engine oil level.

• Grease the machine.

• Check the air filter cyclone housing for a layer of dirt in the bottom of the container. Clean it if dirty.

• Check the drive belt tension.

• Check the condition of the teeth; rotate or replace any that are worn or damaged; torque the nuts for all teeth.

• Remove debris from the machine.

After the first 25 hours Change the engine oil.

Every 25 hours Check the drive belt tension.

What to do if my Toro SGR-6 Grinder engine does not start?

  If your Toro Grinder engine doesn't start, it could be due to the following reasons: the safety bail is in the OFF position, the engine switch (if equipped) is in the OFF position, the fuel-shutoff valve is closed, the choke is open, the fuel tank is empty, or the spark plug wire is loose or disconnected. To fix this, hold the safety bail against the handle, move the switch to the ON position, open the fuel-shutoff valve, close the choke when starting a cold engine, fill the tank with fresh fuel, and check the electrode gap and clean or replace the spark plug.

What to do if the cutting wheel does not rotate on my Toro SGR-6?

  If the cutting wheel does not rotate on your Toro Grinder, it could be due to insufficient engine speed to activate the centrifugal clutch, insufficient belt tension, or worn clutch shoes. To resolve this, move the throttle to the ENGAGED position, adjust the belt tension, and replace the clutch.

Why does my Toro Grinder engine run rough?

  Your Toro Grinder engine might be running rough due to several reasons: the choke may be closed, the air filter could be clogged, or the fuel line might be obstructed. There could also be water or contaminants in the fuel, or the spark plugs may be worn or have buildup on the electrodes. To resolve this, open the choke, clean or replace the air filter, clean the sediment cup, drain the fuel tank and fill it with fresh fuel, and check the electrode gap and clean or replace the spark plug.

  If the cutting wheel continues to rotate on your Toro Grinder, it could be because the engine speed is excessive, the belt is off the pulleys or broken, or the clutch springs are weak or broken. To solve this, move the throttle to the DISENGAGED position, replace the drive belt, and replace the clutch.
