The 2024 Toyota Prius is a hybrid vehicle designed to offer a blend of efficiency, performance, and advanced technology. Its sleek and modern design features smooth curves and sharp details, creating an aerodynamic silhouette. The front end is defined by slim LED headlights, while the rear boasts a light bar between the taillights for a clean look. Available 19-inch alloy wheels further enhance its stylish exterior. For an enhanced driving experience, an available fixed glass roof allows more natural light into the cabin.
Under the hood, the Prius features Toyota's next-gen Hybrid Synergy Drive® system. This system intelligently optimizes a 2.0L 4-cylinder gas engine and electric motor, delivering up to 196 net horsepower. The FWD models utilize one electric motor, while AWD models incorporate two electric motors for enhanced capability. The vehicle boasts an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy of up to 57 mpg for the LE FWD model, with other trims like the LE AWD achieving 54 mpg, XLE and Limited FWD at 52 mpg, and XLE and Limited AWD at 49 mpg. The hybrid system net power is 194 hp for FWD models and 196 hp for AWD models. The engine has a compression ratio of 14.0:1 and is paired with an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT). The vehicle is SULEV30 Bin 30 emission rated. The electric motor includes a Permanent magnet AC synchronous motor (83 kW, 111 hp) and, for AWD models, an Interior Permanent Magnet Rear Motor (30 kW, 40hp). The battery is a Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) type, operating at 222V.
The Prius is designed for dynamic handling with a low center of gravity, providing nimble handling and stability during acceleration and braking. Drivers can fine-tune their experience with four driving modes: EV Mode² (for low-speed, short-distance battery-only operation), Power Mode (for sharper acceleration), ECO Mode (for maximizing fuel efficiency), and Normal Mode (balancing fuel economy and performance). The steering system is Electric Power Steering (EPS), power-assisted rack-and-pinion, with a turning circle diameter of 35.4 ft. The braking system includes power-assisted ventilated 11.1-inch front disc brakes and solid 11-inch rear disc brakes with Electronically Controlled Braking (ECB) system for LE and LE AWD, and power-assisted ventilated 12-inch front disc brakes and solid 11-inch rear disc brakes with ECB system for XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD. Inside, the Prius offers an inviting and modern interior. Fabric-trimmed front seats are standard on LE and LE AWD, with SofTex®-trimmed seats on XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD. The driver's seat is 6-way adjustable on LE and LE AWD, and 8-way power-adjustable with power lumbar support on XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD. Heated front seats are standard on XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD, with heated and ventilated front seats on Limited and Limited AWD. Heated rear seats are an option on Limited and Limited AWD. All models feature 60/40 split fold-down rear seats. The steering wheel is SofTex®-trimmed and tilt/telescopic, with audio, Multi-Information Display, and Bluetooth® hands-free phone controls. A top-mount Multi-Information Display (MID) with indicators and a 7-inch LCD display is standard across all trims, providing vehicle details, outside temperature, and driver-assist system information. Six USB-C charge ports are available across all trims (two front/two center console/two rear). A single-zone climate control system with pollen filtration ensures cabin comfort. Other interior features include power windows with auto up/down, extendable dual sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, and a rear dome light and cargo area light. The Limited and Limited AWD trims also offer a power liftback.
For connectivity and entertainment, the Prius comes with an 8.0-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system on LE, LE AWD, XLE, and XLE AWD, and a 12.3-inch system on Limited and Limited AWD. Both systems include wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, USB media ports, hands-free phone capability, and music streaming via Bluetooth®. A 6-speaker audio system is standard on LE, LE AWD, XLE, and XLE AWD, while Limited and Limited AWD feature an 8-speaker JBL® Premium Audio system with amplifier. All models include a SiriusXM® 3-month Platinum Plan trial subscription. Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging is available on XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD.
The Prius is equipped with a suite of Connected Services, many of which are 4G network dependent and available with trial periods. Safety Connect® (up to 10-year trial) includes an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and Stolen Vehicle Locator. Service Connect (up to 10-year trial) provides personalized maintenance updates and vehicle health reports. Remote Connect (1-year trial) allows remote interaction with the vehicle via the Toyota app, including lock/unlock, start/stop, last parked location, vehicle status, and guest driver monitoring. Digital Key capability, which enables a smartphone to be used as a physical key, is available on XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD (requires Remote Connect trial or subscription). Cargo capacity is 23.8 cu. ft. for LE and LE AWD, and 20.3 cu. ft. for XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD with seats up. Fuel tank capacity is 11.3 gallons for FWD models and 10.5 gallons for AWD models. Curb weights range from 3097 lbs (LE) to 3340 lbs (Limited AWD).
