Why is the grinding wheel 'burning' on my Trumpf quicksharp?
- AAlex HarrisonAug 15, 2025
If the grinding wheel on your Trumpf Grinder is 'burning' (smoking), accompanied by loud grinding noises and a rough grinding effect, several factors could be at play. The grinding wheel may be blunt, requiring sharpening. The grinding pressure might be too high, necessitating an adjustment of the cycle time to 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 minutes. Ensure the grinding coolant is correctly directed at the grinding wheel, maintaining a distance of 1 mm to the wheel face, and that there is adequate coolant flow. Add grinding coolant if the level is low, and clean the intake filter to ensure proper coolant supply.
