Overview

The provided manual describes the 2022 Volkswagen Taos, focusing on its various features, including infotainment, driver assistance, climate control, navigation, connectivity, tire pressure monitoring, keyless access, and wipers. It also includes a comprehensive list of warning and indicator lights.

Infotainment System:

The Taos features a touch-sensitive infotainment system that controls radio, media, App-Connect, phone operation, vehicle functions, and an optional navigation system. The Digital Cockpit/Instrument Cluster displays vehicle system and function information, customizable via multi-function steering wheel controls. USB-C ports are available for connecting mobile phones, requiring a compatible cable. A wireless charging pad is also available for Qi-capable mobile phones, indicating charging status on the infotainment system.

Steering Wheel Controls:

The left side of the steering wheel controls Cruise Control, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), radio volume, navigation system notifications, and phone calls. The right side controls include:

  • Voice Control Button: A short press activates Volkswagen Voice Control, while a long press activates third-party voice control with a compatible smartphone connected to App-Connect.
  • VIEW Button: Switches between wide and standard display.
  • OK Button: Selects settings in the Digital Cockpit.
  • Horizontal Menu Buttons: Navigates through Digital Cockpit main menus.
  • Vertical Arrow Buttons: Navigates inside specific menus.
  • Horizontal Arrow Buttons: Changes radio stations, scrolls through radio presets, or selects next/previous media tracks.

Remote Start (Optional):

If equipped, the engine can be started remotely using the key fob (press Lock, then Remote Start twice) to pre-condition the interior with the HVAC system. This feature requires the VW Car-Net Mobile App and a compatible factory-installed or dealer-installed remote start feature.

Refueling:

The fuel filler flap is unlocked by pressing a button on the driver's door.

Driver Assistance Features:

  • Cruise Control: Activated by pressing a button on the steering wheel, displaying a speedometer icon in the Digital Cockpit. Speed can be set, increased/decreased in 1 mph or 5 mph increments, canceled, and resumed.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Helps maintain a constant speed and a pre-set distance from the vehicle ahead. It can brake if needed and accelerate back to the stored speed when the path is clear. Distance levels can be adjusted using a button on the steering wheel. If the system stops the vehicle for more than 3 seconds, briefly pressing the accelerator pedal resumes ACC. ACC can be deactivated to use conventional cruise control by navigating through the steering wheel menus to "Speed" and selecting "Cruise Control."
  • Travel Assist System (Optional): Maintains a preselected distance to the vehicle in front and keeps the vehicle within its lane. Activated by a button on the steering wheel. Cruise speed and travel assist can be canceled by pressing the brake pedal or a steering wheel button.
  • Assistance System Settings: Driver Assistance features can be modified via the infotainment system by pressing "Menu," then "Assist Syst."

Climatronic Climate Control (Optional):

  • Heating and Air Conditioning: The AUTO button turns the system on for automatic cooling or warming. Driver's temperature dial adjusts preferred setting. The SYNC button synchronizes temperatures between zones. MAX A/C provides maximum cooling.
  • Max Defrost/Rear Defrost: Activated by the Max Defrost button, recommended to set temperature to HI. A/C automatically engages to dry air. The button on the driver's door panel switches on outside mirror heating when temperatures are below +68F (+20C).
  • AUTO Mode: Maintains set temperature like a thermostat.
  • SYNC Mode: Applies driver's settings to passenger and rear climate zones.
