Overview

The BISSELL SpotBot is a portable deep cleaner designed for spot and stain removal on carpets, upholstery, stairs, and car interiors. It features an Automatic Smart System™ that takes the guesswork out of cleaning by offering pre-programmed cycles for different stain types, as well as a manual mode for targeted cleaning.

Function Description:

The SpotBot operates by spraying a cleaning solution onto the soiled area, agitating the stain with brushes, and then suctioning up the dirty water and solution into a separate collection tank. This process is designed to penetrate deep into carpet fibers to remove tough stains. The device utilizes Deep Reach™ Technology, which dispenses water and solution further into the carpet where the deepest part of the stain resides, ensuring a thorough clean.

Usage Features:

Automatic Smart System™ Control Panel:

The control panel, located on top of the unit, allows users to select from various cleaning cycles:

  • Surface Stain Cycle: This 3-minute cycle is designed for stains on the surface of carpeting.
  • Set-In Stain Cycle: This 6-minute cycle is for older, more difficult set-in stains.
  • Manual/Hose: This option enables manual cleaning of spots and stains on various surfaces like upholstery, stairs, and car interiors using the attached hose and tools.
  • Pause/Resume Button: Allows pausing and resuming the current cleaning cycle.
  • Stop Button: Stops the cleaning cycle completely.
  • Status Indicator Lights: Provide visual updates on the cleaning cycle progress, with a "Finish" light and beeps indicating completion.

Automated Cleaning:

To use automated cleaning, the user places the unit directly over the spot or stain, ensuring the stain is centered within the cleaning area. After selecting either the "Surface Stain Cycle" or "Set-In Stain Cycle," the SpotBot automatically sprays, brushes, and suctions the soiled area according to its pre-programmed cycle. Once the cycle is complete, the "Finish" light illuminates, and the machine beeps. For dye-based stains like coffee or red wine, it is recommended to use BISSELL 2X compact formula with Oxy GEN2® formula for enhanced cleaning, as Oxy GEN2 continues to work for six to eight hours after application.

Manual Cleaning:

For manual cleaning, the hose is removed from the unit by depressing the release button. The Tough Stain Brush is then attached to the grip of the hose. The "Hose" button is selected on the control panel to activate manual mode. The SpotBot will not turn on until the hose is disconnected from the hose connector. If not removed within 30 seconds, the unit will shut off. Users hold the tool above the soiled surface and depress the spray trigger to apply cleaning solution. After applying, the brush on the tool is used to gently scrub the area. To suction, the nozzle is positioned over the cleaned area with downward pressure, pulling it toward the user until no more solution can be removed. The SpotBot in manual mode has a safety feature that shuts off the unit after 30 minutes; pressing the start button resumes cleaning. After cleaning, the suction nozzle can be lightly dragged across the stain to aid drying. Before turning off, clean water should be suctioned to rinse the vacuum flex hose, and then the hose lifted to drain remaining water into the dirty tank.

Tanks:

  • Clean Water/Solution Tank: Located on the right side of the unit, this tank holds the cleaning solution. It can be filled with BISSELL 2X compact formula and water for common stains, or with BISSELL 2X compact formula and Oxy GEN2® formula for dye-based stains.
  • Dirty Water/Collection Tank: Located on the left side, this tank collects the dirty water and solution suctioned from the cleaned area. It has a maximum fill line and should be emptied and rinsed after each use or when the line is reached.

Cleaning Fluids:

Only genuine BISSELL 2X formulas are recommended for use with the SpotBot. Non-BISSELL cleaning solutions may harm the machine and void the warranty. BISSELL offers 2X Little Green Portable Machine Formula (for carpet spot & stain cleaning) and 2X Pet Stain & Odor Portable Machine Formula (for carpet spot & stain cleaning), as well as Oxy GEN2® Formula.

Accessories:

The SpotBot comes with a Tough Stain Brush, which is conveniently stored on board. Other available accessories include a TurboBrush® Tool, 4" Upholstery Tool, 6" Wide Stair Tool, Spraying Crevice Tool, and a Storage Tray.

Maintenance Features:

Tank Management:

  • The clean water/solution tank is easily removed for filling and replaced by lifting it straight up and then away from the unit. The cap at the bottom is unscrewed for filling.
  • The dirty water/collection tank is removed by lifting its latch and pulling it out. It should be emptied and rinsed after each use.
  • The black valve inside the dirty water/collection tank should be cleaned periodically.

Storage:

After use, the unit should be turned off, unplugged, and the power cord wrapped around the cord wraps. The dirty water/collection tank should be emptied and rinsed. If using Oxy GEN2, fresh Oxy GEN2 should be added prior to the next use if a significant amount of water and solution remains in the clean tank, to optimize performance. The vacuum flex hose should be wrapped around the unit and secured into the hose connector. The unit should be stored indoors at room temperature (40° to 110°F). After using the automated feature, the window and brushing area should be wiped with a soft cloth.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides troubleshooting steps for common issues such as the SpotBot not running (e.g., power cord not plugged in, blown fuse), unusual noise (e.g., clean water/solution tank out of fluid), reduced or no spray (e.g., clogged spray tips, tank not inserted securely), and no suction (e.g., full dirty tank, dirty water/collection tank latch not down, missing black valve). For issues not covered in the manual, users are advised to contact an authorized service representative.
