Overview

This document is a supplement to the owner's handbook for the Citroën DS3 Cabrio, detailing its unique features, usage, and maintenance. It covers the electric soft top roof, boot access, rear shelf, bulb and fuse replacement, care recommendations, and technical specifications.

Function Description:

The Citroën DS3 Cabrio is a vehicle equipped with an electric soft top roof, allowing for open-air driving. The roof can be opened and closed electrically via a control located near the interior lamp. The operation of the roof is divided into two zones: Zone A (horizontal operating zone) and Zone B (vertical operating zone). Zone A can be operated in both manual and automatic modes, while Zone B is restricted to automatic mode only.

The roof has four main positions:

  • Position 0: Roof completely closed.
  • Position 1: Stop position for automatic roof closing.
  • Position 2: Roof open horizontally.
  • Position 3: Roof completely open.

For opening, in manual mode (Zone A), the control is pressed and held without passing a point of resistance. The roof stops when the control is released. Opening in Zone B is only possible in automatic mode. In automatic mode (Zone A), pressing the control beyond the point of resistance initiates automatic opening to position 2. Releasing the control allows the roof to continue opening to position 2. A press on the control in Zone B opens the roof completely to position 3. During automatic operation in Zone A, pressing the control stops the roof. However, in Zone B, stopping the roof is not possible; pressing the control reverses its direction of movement ("anti-panic" function).

For closing, in manual mode (Zone A), the control is pressed and held without passing the point of resistance. The roof stops when the control is released. To close completely, the control must be held until the roof locks. Closing in Zone B is only possible in automatic mode. In automatic mode (from position 3), pressing the control initiates closing to position 2. Releasing the control allows it to continue. Between positions 2 and 1, pressing the control beyond the point of resistance allows automatic closing to position 1. Between positions 1 and 0, the control must be pressed and held until the roof closes fully. During automatic closing in Zone A (position 2 to position 1), pressing the control stops the roof.

The vehicle also features an aero-acoustic deflector to enhance comfort at high speeds by reducing turbulence in the passenger compartment. This deflector can be manually folded away and secured when the roof is open, and it deploys automatically when the roof is closed.

The boot opening is controlled by a remote or key, and the boot lid is raised manually. Closing involves pressing on the middle of the finisher. The boot opening is linked to the roof position in Zone B to prevent interference. An emergency release system for the boot is available in case of battery or central locking malfunction, accessed by folding the rear seats.

Important Technical Specifications:

Usage Features:

  • Roof Operation: The electric soft top roof offers both manual and automatic modes for opening and closing, providing flexibility depending on the driving situation. The "anti-panic" function in Zone B allows for quick reversal of roof movement if needed.
  • Boot Access: The boot can be opened after unlocking the vehicle. Its operation is integrated with the roof's position in Zone B to prevent physical interference.
  • Rear Shelf: The rear shelf is fixed. When the roof is fully open, the rear screen rests on the shelf. It is important not to place objects on the shelf or screen to avoid damage.
  • Aero-acoustic Deflector: This deflector improves acoustic comfort, especially at higher speeds, by reducing air turbulence in the cabin. It can be manually secured or released.
  • Reinitialisation: If automatic roof operation is lost, the system can be reinitialised by pressing and holding the closing control with the engine running until the roof fully closes and then reverses slightly.
  • Downgraded Operation: If the roof stops in Zone B, a message will prompt the driver to stop operation immediately and use the control to reach position 2 or 3. Driving with the roof stopped in Zone B is not permitted.

Maintenance Features:

  • Soft Top Care:
    • Before washing, remove as much dirt as possible with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.
    • For marks, sponge with soapy water (do not rub) and rinse with clean water.
    • Never use chemical products, detergents, stain removers, solvents, alcohol, or petrol.
    • Remove bird droppings or tree resins promptly due to their acidity.
    • Only use special waterproofing products for fabric roofs.
    • Avoid high-pressure jet washes.
    • Allow the vehicle to dry in a shaded area.
    • For regular maintenance and to preserve appearance, an ecological "Fly remover - Soft top roof cleaner" from the "TECHNATURE" range is recommended, available from a CITROËN dealer.
  • Bulb Replacement: For direction indicators and fog/reversing lamps, turn the bulb a quarter turn to change. Amber or red bulbs must be replaced with bulbs of the same rating and colour. For LED sidelamps and brake lamps, contact a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.
  • Fuse Replacement:
    • Fuses under the rear shelf are accessed by unclipping the upper boot trim, removing the trim, and then changing the fuses.
    • Maxi-fuses under the bonnet should only be handled by a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.
    • If a fuse fails while the roof is in Zone B, the boot cannot be opened. The roof must be manually closed from inside the boot (by folding the rear seats) before accessing the fuses.
  • General Precautions:
    • Do not place objects on the roof (open or closed).
    • Avoid opening the roof in snowy or frosty conditions.
    • Do not use sharp tools, scrapers, or aerosol products on the roof or rear screen.
    • Avoid operating the heated rear screen when the roof is completely open.
    • To prevent folds in the roof fabric, avoid leaving the roof open for long periods.
    • Do not operate the air conditioning system when the roof is open.
    • Do not sit on or place objects on the transverse roof support.
    • For prolonged outdoor storage, protect the roof with a cover.
    • Close the roof when parked and remove the ignition key to prevent unwanted operation.
    • If electric motors overheat due to repeated operation, allow them to cool for ten minutes before further use.
    • If the vehicle has a voice command system, its performance may be reduced with the roof open.
