This document describes the EURO-PROX Deep Fryer, Model F1042, an appliance designed for household deep frying.
The EURO-PROX Deep Fryer is designed to safely and efficiently deep fry a variety of foods. It operates by heating cooking oil to a desired temperature, allowing users to immerse a frying basket containing food into the hot oil for cooking. The appliance features a temperature control to set the desired heat level for different types of food, and an indicator light to signal when the oil has reached the set temperature. A viewing window on the cover allows users to monitor the cooking process without opening the lid, helping to contain steam and maintain oil temperature. The deep fryer is equipped with a "break-away" safety cord, a crucial safety feature designed to disconnect if the cord is inadvertently pulled, preventing the appliance from tipping over and spilling hot oil.
Before initial use, all components except the deep fryer unit itself and the power cord should be washed in hot, soapy water and thoroughly dried. The oil reservoir should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried. It is critical that all components, especially the filter compartment and cover, are completely dry before adding oil to prevent steam buildup.
To assemble, the filter is placed into its compartment, and the filter cover is snapped into place. The temperature control must be in the "Off" position before attaching the "break-away" safety cord, which connects magnetically. Cooking oil, specifically blended vegetable oil, pure corn oil, or canola oil, should be poured into the oil reservoir, ensuring the level is between the "MIN" and "MAX" markings. Olive oil, margarine, lard, or drippings are not recommended. Never plug in the deep fryer before the oil reservoir is filled.
For frying, the basket is placed in the deep fryer, and the cover is secured. The temperature control is then set to the desired temperature. The indicator light will illuminate until the oil reaches the set temperature, then cycle on and off to maintain it. When ready to add food, the cover should be lifted slowly, tilting it away to allow steam to escape. The fryer basket is then lifted onto the fryer basket holder mount, food is placed in the basket, and the basket is carefully lowered into the heated oil before replacing the cover.
For frozen foods like French Fries, it's important not to exceed the "MAX" fill line in the fryer basket and to remove any ice from the food before frying to prevent overflow and splashing. Food should be dabbed dry with paper towels if necessary. Pieces should be of similar size and thickness for even cooking. The basket should only be half full for optimal results.
When cooking is complete, the cover is again tilted away to release steam. An oven mitt or pot holder should be used to lift the frying basket and hook it onto the holder mount to allow excess oil to drain. The food can then be removed from the basket and served. The deep fryer should be turned off and unplugged, allowing the oil to cool for approximately 2 hours before cleaning or storing.
The manual provides a table of recommended cooking times and temperatures for various foods, including French Fries, fish fillets, chicken fingers, chicken pieces, fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, onion rings, donuts, apple beignets, and shrimp. It also includes recipes for Apple Fritters, Beer Batter for Fish or Chicken, Deep Fried Chicken, Chicken Kiev, Hush Puppies, and Quick Doughnuts.
Cleaning is essential for the longevity and safe operation of the deep fryer. Before cleaning, the unit must be turned "OFF," unplugged, and allowed to cool completely for about 2 hours. The "break-away" safety cord, plug, filter, or the deep fryer unit itself should never be immersed in water or any other liquid.
The oil reservoir should be wiped with a damp, soapy cloth, then rinsed with a water-dampened cloth. The fryer basket can be washed on the top rack of a dishwasher. The cover should be washed separately after removing the filter and dried thoroughly. No parts of the deep fryer, other than the basket, are dishwasher safe. Abrasive pads, steel wool, alcohol, or cleaning solutions should not be used on the power cord magnetic socket or any other part of the deep fryer.
The filter is not washable and should be replaced when necessary. To replace, the filter cover is opened, the old filter removed, the cover cleaned, and a new filter inserted before replacing the cover.
Regarding cooking oil, it does not need to be changed after every use. However, oil used for frying high-protein foods like poultry, fish, or other meats is not recommended for reuse. If oil is primarily used for potatoes and filtered after each use, it can be reused up to 8-10 times, but not for longer than 6 months. Oil should be replaced if it starts foaming, darkens in color, develops a rancid smell or taste, or becomes syrupy.
To store or reuse oil, ensure the deep fryer is unplugged and the oil has cooled. The oil can then be emptied into a storage container or bottle. For reuse, it should be poured back into the reservoir through a wire strainer or paper filter.
If solid vegetable shortening is used, it should be melted in a separate pan and carefully poured into the oil reservoir. Attempting to melt solidified fat directly in the deep fryer is not recommended due to the risk of sputtering. If previously used solid shortening has hardened in the reservoir, it should be removed and melted in a separate pan before reuse.
