Function Description

The primary function of the PT-100 is to provide precise tuning for guitars. Usage Features

The PT-100 incorporates several features designed to enhance its usability and versatility:

  1. POWER (1): This LED indicates the on/off status of the PT-100. A simple switch (presumably a footswitch, though not explicitly labeled as such, its pedal format suggests this) controls the power, allowing for quick activation or deactivation during performances.
  2. NOTE DISPLAY (2): This central display clearly shows the musical note that is closest to the pitch being played. This is the primary visual feedback for the user to identify the current note.
  3. TUNING LEDs (3): A set of nine LEDs provides a detailed visual representation of the tuning accuracy. The center "0" LED illuminates when the played note is perfectly "in tune." LEDs to the left indicate flatness, while LEDs to the right indicate sharpness. This granular feedback allows for fine-tuning adjustments.
  4. INPUT (4): This jack is where the guitar's cable is connected, feeding the instrument's signal into the tuner for analysis.
  5. OUT 1 and OUT 2 (5): The PT-100 offers two output options:
    • OUT 1: This output is always active, meaning the guitar signal passes through the tuner to the amplifier regardless of the tuner's on/off state. This is useful for continuous signal flow.
    • OUT 2: This output is disabled when the PT-100 is switched on. This "silent tuning" feature mutes the guitar signal to the amplifier while tuning, preventing unwanted sounds from being heard by the audience, making it ideal for live performances.
  6. DC 9V INPUT (6): This connection allows for the use of an optional AC power adapter. This is convenient for extended use, reducing reliance on battery power. Users are advised to connect the adapter to a grounded AC outlet in accordance with specified frequency and voltage ratings.

Maintenance Features

  • BATTERY LED (7): This LED flashes to indicate when the 9V battery needs to be replaced. This proactive warning helps users avoid unexpected power loss during use.
  • Battery Replacement: The battery compartment is located on the back of the unit and can be accessed by rotating a large slotted screw counterclockwise. This design allows for easy and quick battery changes.

Important Safety Instructions

The manual includes critical safety information to ensure the safe operation and longevity of the device:

  • Voltage and Servicing: The device warns of dangerous voltage levels and advises that only qualified personnel should service the unit.
  • Environmental Protection: Users are cautioned against exposing the unit to rain, moisture, or liquids, and to keep it away from heat sources.
  • Power Supply: It emphasizes using only safety agency certified power sources (adapters) and connecting to earth-grounded AC receptacles. The power cord should be protected from pinching or abrasion and unplugged during long periods of disuse or electrical storms.
  • Cleaning: The unit should be unplugged before cleaning the exterior with a damp cloth, and allowed to dry completely before reconnecting power.
  • Polarized Plug: If equipped with a polarized plug, users are advised not to defeat its safety purpose.

In summary, the Fender PT-100 Pedal Tuner is a well-designed, user-friendly, and reliable tuning solution for guitarists, offering precise tuning capabilities, flexible output options for various performance scenarios, and straightforward maintenance.
