ENGINEERING INSIGHT
Hands-free Power Liftgate
The hands-free power liftgate system uses two
sensors that produce an electrical field. The field
is broken when customers useaslightkicking
motion in front of the sensors. A signal is then sent
to the Intelligent Access Key for verification. After
the liftgate system recognizes that the keyholder is
actively trying to access the rear cargo area, a signal
is sent to the vehicle to open or close the liftgate.
The system will respond within two seconds.
