Inadditiontokeepingthesystemcleanandingoodrepair,itisimportanttokeepthe
cablesandleadwirescleananddisinfected.Thissectionprovidesinstructionsfor
cleaning,disinfecting,andstoringECGcablesandleadwirestoextendtheirlifeand
protectpatients.Cablesandleadwirescomeintocontactwithpatientsandshouldbe
cleanedanddisinfectedaftereveryuse.
NOTE:
FordeviceswiththeKISSsystem,refertotheKISSoperator'smanualforcleaning
anddisinfectinginformation.
CleaningGuidelines
Observethefollowingguidelineswhencleaninganddisinfectingthecables,leadwires,
andelectrodesforyoursystem.
Followthecleaninginstructionsexactly.
Wringexcessdisinfectantfromthewipebeforeusingit.
Neverimmersethedevice,cables,orleadwiresinanyliquid,asthismaycorrode
metalcontactsandaffectsignalquality.
Donotallowliquidstocollectaroundtheconnectionpins.Ifthishappens,blotthem
drywithasoft,lint-freecloth.
Neveruseconductivesolutionsorsolutionsthatcontainchlorides,wax,orwax
compoundstocleanthedevice,cables,orleadwires.
NeverusesolutionsorproductsthatcontainanytypeofAmmoniumChloridesuch
as,butnotlimitedto:
DimethylBenzylAmmoniumChloride
QuaternaryAmmoniumChloridesolutions
Abrasivecleanersorsolventsofanykind
Acetone
