GENERAL OPERATIONAL PRECAUTIONS
1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and benches
invite accidents.
2. Avoid dangerous environment. Don’t expose power
tools to rain. Don’t use power tools in damp or wet
locations. And keep work area well it.
3. Keep children away. All visitors should be kept at
safe distance from work area.
4. Store idle tools. When not in use, tools should be
stored in dry, high or locked-up place—out of reach
of children.
5. Don’t force tool. It will do the job better and safer
at the rate for which it was designed.
6. Use right tool. Don’t force small tool or attachment
to do the job of a heavy duty tool.
7. Wear proper apparel. No loose clothing or jewelry
to get caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and
footwear are recommended when working outdoors.
8. Use safety glasses with most tools. Also face or dust
mask if cutting operation is dusty.
9. Don’t abuse cord. Never carry tool by cord or yank
it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from
heat, oil and sharp edges.
10. Secure work. Use clamps or a vise to hold work.
It’s safer than using your hand and it frees both
hands to operate tool.
11. Don’t overreach. Keep proper footing and balance
at all times.
12. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp at all
times, and clean for best and safest performance.
Follow instructions for lubricating and changing
accessories.
13. Disconnect tools. When not in use, before servicing;
when changing accessories such as blades, bits,
cutters, etc.
14. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form habit
of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches
are removed from tool before turning it on.
15. Avoid accidental starting. Don’t carry plugged-in
tool with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off
when plugging in.
16. Outdoor use extension cords. When tool is used
outdoors, use only extension cords suitable for use
outdoors and so marked.
17. Do not use power tools for applications other than
those specified in the Handling Instructions.
18. Never use power tools near inflammable or explosive
materials.
19. To ensure the designed operational integrity of power
tools, do not remove installed covers or screws.
20. Do not touch movable parts or accessories unless
the power source has been disconnected.
21. Use your tool at lower input than specified on the
nameplate: otherwise, the finish may be spoiled and
working efficiency reduced due to motor overload.
22. Never use the miter saw with its safety cover fixed
in the open position.
23. Ensure that the safety cover moves smoothly and
freely.
24. Always keep the saw blade sharp.
25. Never operate the miter saw with the saw blade
turned upward or to the side.
26. Ensure that the workpiece is free of foreign matter
such as nails.
27. Consult an authorized Service Agent in the event
of power tool failure.
28. Use only original HITACHI replacement parts.
29. This tool should only be disassembled for
replacement of carbon brushes.
