Power button board
Description Spare part number
Power button board (includes cable) 686917-001
Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 48), and then remove the following components:
a. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 49)
b. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 53)
c. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 57)
d. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 66)
Remove the power button board:
1. Detach the power button board cable from the top cover. (The power button board cable is
attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.)
2. Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
3. Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×3.5 screws (1) that secure the power button board to the
top cover.
