15 Do not rest the machine horizontally or in positions that stress the plastic protection,
as it could deform or break.
16 The machine is equipped with a device to limit the noise from the start up of the
engine with a short delay after ipping the switch.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
1) Children or individuals who are not perfectly familiar with the instructions on use
should never be allowed to use the machine. Local Law and regulations may
prescribe a minimum age for the use of the machine.
2) Regularly check the efciency and integrity of the machine; if in bad condition, the
machine can cause injuries to the user.
3) Before using the machine after any blow, check for any externally visible signs of wear
and damage. If necessary, take it to an authorised assistance centre for repair.
4) Do not use the machine in case of damaged or missing guards or when the cutting
device is not correctly tted, locked or if it is damaged. Check for perfect efciency
before starting the machine.
5) Before starting the machine, make sure that the cutting device is not touching
stones, debris or foreign bodies.
6) Always wear adequate protective clothing when operating the machine, to avoid
injuries to face, eyes, hands, feet, head and hearing: use protective eyewear or
faceshields, high boots or sturdy shoes and trousers, work gloves, a hard hat and
hearing protection.
7) Whilst the motor is being started up and when the machine is in operation, keep the
cutting section away from all parts of the body, especially hands and feet.
8) Do not start the machine when it is upside down or when it is not in the working
position.
9) Switch off the motor and pull out the plug when: the machine is not being used, it
is left unattended, it is being cleaned, it is being moved from one place to another,
the power supply or extension cable is damaged, the spool is being removed or
changed or when the length of the nylon line is being manually adjusted.
10) Do not move the machine by pulling on the electrical cable. Always use the
handgrip.
11) Do not operate the machine near people, especially children, or pets; turn it off if
they get too close. Maintain the safety distance specied in sections 10 and 11 of
the marking and symbol description chapter: the cut and ejected grass may contain
rocks and dangerous debris.

STARTING AND STOPPING THE MACHINE
1) Before use, always check that the machine is in good working order, check the
length of the trimmer line and follow the instructions on your model, which are set
out below (see technical specications sheet):
- Cutting head with manual spool unit: check that the nylon line touches or goes
beyond the guard edge. If the nylon line does not reach the required length, grasp
the spoolholder with one hand and the nylon line with the other (g. D). Release
