This document is a Quick Reference Guide for the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, providing an overview of its features, usage, and maintenance.

Voice Recognition Tips

The vehicle is equipped with voice recognition technology to operate phones hands-free. To optimize performance, use full names for contacts, avoid special characters or abbreviations, and ensure good environmental conditions (closed windows/sunroof, HVAC system off or low fan speed).

  • Commands: "Dial <Phone #>", "Call ", "Find Address <House #, Street, City, State>", "Find ", "Find Lowe's® near me", "Starbucks®".
  • Phone Commands: "Call" (displays contacts), "Call " (calls saved contact), "Dial Number" (displays screen to say number), "Dial <Phone #>" (directly dials number).

Bluetooth® Phone Pairing

  • Audio System Pairing: Press the PHONE/CALL button, search for the device name on your mobile, confirm the 6-digit passkey displayed on the audio screen, and press OK on your device.
  • Navigation System Pairing: Press the PHONE/CALL button, pair your car after your mobile detects the Bluetooth device, enter the passkey or accept the authorization popup, and connect Bluetooth.
  • Note: Vehicle must be parked to complete pairing.

  • Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid: Inspect every 37,500 miles (normal); replace every 75,000 miles (severe).
  • Service Interval Reminder System: Notifies of next vehicle maintenance interval. To activate, navigate to user settings on the steering wheel and select "Service Interval > Enable Service Interval > Set/Adjust Interval".

Requires subscription. Access via the button for voice-response menu (Service Link, Roadside Assistance, Blue Link Account Services, Help, Cancel). For navigation-equipped vehicles, press the button for Destination Voice Search Powered by Google™. Press the SOS button for SOS Emergency Assistance.

  • MyHyundai with Blue Link App: Available on iPhone (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play). Allows remote climate control (requires PIN, vehicle must be Push Start with Automatic Transmission and Fully Automatic Temperature Control). Remote start shuts off after 15 minutes or engine timer runs out. Proximity key must be inside the vehicle to operate after remote start.

Bluetooth® Hands-Free

  • Connecting: Push SETUP, select Bluetooth, Bluetooth Connection, Add New. On phone, select vehicle name, enter passkey.
  • Switching Paired Phones: Use voice command "Change Bluetooth device" or via radio: Push SETUP, select Bluetooth, Bluetooth Connection, select Connect next to desired phone.

Driver's Main Controls

  • Side View Mirror: Press L or R button, adjust with directional switch.
  • Power Window Lock Button: Disables rear passenger power window switches.
  • Door Lock: Locks/unlocks all doors.
  • Window Switches: Front and rear power window switches.

Driver Position Memory System

  • Storing: Adjust seat, rearview mirror, and instrument panel illumination. Press SET (beep once), then memory button 1 or 2 within 4 seconds (beep twice). Gear must be in P (Park).
  • Recalling: Press desired memory button 1 or 2 (beep once).

Fuel Filler Door

Push the opener button, then remove the fuel tank cap. Tighten cap until one click is heard.

Liftgate Opening

Press to open (smart key must be within range). Press and hold to unlock tailgate.

Headlights

  • Headlight Delay: Stays on for 15 seconds after exiting/locking. Press smart key lock twice to turn off.
  • LED Headlights: Special beam pattern for good road illumination while protecting oncoming drivers.
  • Turn Signals/Lane Change Signals: Lever up/down.
  • High Beam/Smart High Beam: Push lever forward for high beam. In auto position, push lever forward to engage Smart High Beam. Pull lever to turn off.

Wipers and Washer

  • MIST: Single wipe (move switch down).
  • OFF: Off.
  • INT: Intermittent wipe (adjust speed with control switch).
  • LO: Low wiper speed.
  • HI: High wiper speed.
  • Windshield Washer: Pull lever gently for 1-3 cycles.

Volt Battery Reset Switch

If the door is locked, use the manual key from the FOB to push up the driver's side handle, pull off the access cover, and open the door. The 12V battery is integrated into the lithium high voltage battery assembly and is protected against current draw. If the Start/Stop button doesn't respond, press the 12V Battery Reset switch, start the vehicle within 15 seconds, and drive for 30 minutes to charge. If reset fails, jump-start.

  • Standard Programming:
    1. For first-time programming, press and hold the two outside buttons until the indicator light flashes.
    2. Press and hold the desired button and your transmitter's button simultaneously until the indicator light changes from slow to rapid blink (transmitter 1-3 inches from mirror).
    3. For rolling code garage door openers: Locate "Learn" or "Smart" button on opener, press and release, complete step 4 within 30 seconds.
    4. Return to vehicle, press programmed Homelink button up to 4 times.

Instrument Cluster

  • Type A/B: Displays power gauge, fuel gauge, speedometer, warning/indicator lights, LCD display (trip computer), and Battery SOC (State of Charge) gauge.
  • Ready Indicator: Illuminates when vehicle is ready to drive.
  • EV Mode Indicator: Illuminates when driven by electric motor.
  • Service Warning Light: Illuminates if hybrid vehicle control system problem occurs.

Vehicle Power Gauge

Indicates fuel efficiency.

  • CHARGE: Energy converted to electrical energy (regenerative energy).
  • ECO: Driven in Eco-friendly manner.
  • POWER: Exceeding Eco-friendly range.

Hybrid Battery SOC (State of Charge) Gauge

Indicates remaining hybrid battery power. If near "L (Low)", engine charges battery.

Instrument Panel Illumination

Adjust brightness with the control button.

LCD Display Control

  • Mode Button: Changes modes.
  • Move Switch: Changes items.
  • OK Button: Selects/resets item.

LCD Display Modes

  • Type A/B:
    • Trip Computer: Driving info (tripmeter, fuel economy).
    • Turn By Turn (TBT): Navigation state.
    • SCC/LKAS: Smart Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist System state.
    • A/V: Audio/Video system state.
    • Information: Service interval, warning messages (Blind Spot Detection).
    • User Settings: Door, lamp settings.
    • Assist (Type B only): LDWS, Tire Pressure info.
    • Warning (Type B only): Warning messages (Blind Spot Detection).

Automatic Climate Control

  • AUTO Button: Controls modes, fan speeds, air intake, A/C automatically.
  • System OFF: Turns off blower, selects outside air, sets to last temperature.
  • Mode Selection: Changes airflow direction.
  • Air Intake Control: Recirculated or outside (fresh) air.
  • SYNC Button: Adjusts driver/passenger temperature and airflow equally.
  • DRIVER ONLY Button: Cold air mostly blows to driver's seat.
  • Rear Window Defroster: Activates/deactivates.
  • Defogging/Defrosting: Press front windshield defrost button, set temperature to warmest, set fan speed to highest. Keep windshield clean and select outside air to reduce fogging.

Wireless Cellular Phone Charging System

  • Located in front of cup holders. Operates with doors closed, Engine Start/Stop button in ACC/ON/START. Supports Qi-enabled phones.
  • Note: Do not place metallic items or credit cards on charger. Charging area may warm up.

USB and Smartphone Port

Connect external audio devices. iPod is a trademark of Apple, Inc.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKA)

Detects lane markers and assists steering. Operates between 40-110 mph. Press LKA switch to turn on/off.

  • Note: May not activate in blurred lane conditions, heavy fog, reflections, sharp bends.

Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS)

Generates engine sound for pedestrians at low speeds or when shifted to R (Reverse).

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)

Detects and monitors vehicles ahead, warns of imminent collision, and applies braking.

  • Settings: 'User Settings → Driver Assistance → Forward Safety'.
    • Active Assist: Braking assist applied.
    • Warning Only: Braking assist not applied.
    • Off: System deactivates.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)

Uses radar to alert driver of vehicles in rear blind spot. Activates if vehicle speed exceeds 20 mph. Press BCA button to turn on/off.

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert: Provides alert when vehicle is in R (Reverse) and approaching from sides.

Dual Clutch Transmission

  • Manual Shift Mode: Shift lever from D into manual gate. Holds gears longer, downshifts at higher RPM.
  • ECO Mode: Shift lever in D (Drive). Improves fuel efficiency.
  • SPORT Mode: Shift lever in S (Sport). Provides responsive powertrain, sporty handling, but may decrease fuel efficiency.
  • Characteristics: Automatically shifting manual transmission with two computer-controlled clutches. Clicking sounds during engine on/off are normal self-tests. On hills, vehicle remains stationary for 2 seconds (creep mode after).
  • Caution: Use foot brake on hills to avoid clutch damage. If clutch overheats, it may be disabled until cool.

Paddle Shifter

Available in D (Drive) or Shiftronic mode. Press (+) to upshift, (-) to downshift. In ECO mode, adjusts regenerative braking.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

  • Low Tire Pressure Indicator (!): Illuminates if one or more tires are significantly under-inflated.
  • TPMS Malfunction Indicator: Blinks for ~1 minute, then remains illuminated if malfunction. Inspect tires and adjust pressure.
  • Low Tire Pressure Position Indicator and Tire Pressure Indicator (LCD Display): Select Assist mode A, press mode button on steering wheel to display tire pressure. Displays after driving short distance. If pressure drops, (!) illuminates and LCD shows tire(s) requiring air.
  • Note: Environmental factors (temperature, elevation) affect tire pressure.

Cruise Control/Smart Cruise Control

  • Cruise Control: Maintains constant speed.
    1. ON/OFF: Button 1.
    2. Resume/Increase Speed: Toggle switch 2 UP.
    3. Set/Decrease Speed: Toggle switch 3 DOWN.
    4. Cancel: Button 4 or depress brake pedal.
  • Setting Vehicle Distance (Smart Cruise Control only): Press button to set/maintain vehicle-to-vehicle distance. Activates with cruise speed. Distance changes (Longest > Distance 3 > Distance 2 > Shortest).
  • Adjusting Speed: Toggle switch 2 UP (increase), 3 DOWN (decrease). Quick toggle changes speed by 1 mph, holding changes by 5 mph.

Tire Mobility Kit

  • Setup: Remove speed restriction label, place on steering wheel. Ensure compressor is OFF. Lift cable cover, screw compressor hose to sealant bottle connector. Insert sealant bottle into compressor housing. Screw filling hose to tire's valve stem. Insert compressor power plug into vehicle's power outlet. Turn ignition ON or press Engine Start/Stop twice.
  • Inflate Tire: Switch compressor ON for ~5 minutes. Switch OFF, check pressure (over 32 psi). If not, puncture is too large, contact Hyundai Roadside Assistance. Remove filling hose, compressor hose, and power plug.
  • Recheck Tire Pressure: Screw compressor hose to tire valve. Insert compressor power plug. Adjust to recommended pressure.
  • Increase Pressure: Switch compressor ON. Briefly switch OFF to check pressure.
  • Reduce Pressure: Loosen knob 6 on gauge, tighten to set pressure.
  • Note: Compact spare tire accessory may be available.
