Attaching the shoulder harness
CAUTION: When you use the tool in combi-
nation of the backpack-type power supply such
as portable power pack, do not use the shoulder
harness included in the tool package, but use the
hanging band recommended by Makita.
If you put on the shoulder harness included in the tool pack-
age and the shoulder harness of the backpack-type power
supply at the same time, removing the tool or backpack-type
powersupplyisdi󰀩cultincaseofanemergency,anditmay
causeanaccidentorinjury.Fortherecommendedhanging
band, ask Makita Authorized Service Centers.
CAUTION:
Always use the shoulder harness
attached to the tool. Before operation, adjust the shoul-
der harness according to the user size to prevent fatigue.
CAUTION: Before operation, make sure that
the shoulder harness is properly attached to the
hanger on the tool.
CAUTION:
Before operation, make sure that the
buckle of the shoulder harness is fastened rmly.
CAUTION:
Always use the shoulder harness dedi-
cated to this tool. Do not use other shoulder harnesses.
1. Put on the shoulder harness and fasten the
buckle.

NOTE: When removing the shoulder harness, unlock
the buckle and remove the shoulder harness.
2. Adjusttheshoulderharnesstoacomfortable
working position.
3. Clasp the hook on the shoulder harness to tool's
hanger.

The shoulder harness features a means of quick
release. Simply squeeze the sides of the buckle to
release the shoulder harness.

Working with the tool
CAUTION: Keep all parts of the body away
from the saw chain when the motor is operating.
CAUTION: Hold the tool rmly with both
hands when the motor is running.
CAUTION: Do not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times.
CAUTION: When cutting through branches,
be careful not to lose your balance due to the
weight of the tool head.
CAUTION: Always keep escape route in case
a cut branch falls towards the operator.
CAUTION: Never use the tip of the guide bar
for cutting. Otherwise, dangerous kickback may
occur, and it may result in personal injury.
NOTICE: Never toss or drop the tool.
NOTICE: Do not cover the vents of the tool.
NOTICE: Do not force the tool. Otherwise, it may
damage the tool.
