HOOD RELEAS E
The hood release handle is locatedbelow the instrument panel.Pull the
handletowardyou to release. From the front of your vehicle,releasethe
auxiliarylatch under the front center of the hood and lift until the lift
cylindershold it open.
POWER WINDOWS
Pressthe bottom portion of the switch to lower;the upper portion to raise.
Touse the one touch down feature,press the double arrow and release
quickly;the windowwill open fully. Depress again to stop window
operation. The window lock feature allows only the driver to operatethe
powerwindows. Pressthe left side of the windowlock to prevent
passengers from controllingpower windows;press the right side to restore
use of the controls.
EXTERIOR MIRRORS
PowerSide View Mirrors:To adjust these mirrors,select the left arrow to
adjustto the left mirror;the right arrow to adjust the right mirror.Move the
controlin the direction you would like to adjustthe mirror.Return to the
centerposition to lock the mirrorsin place.
HeatedMirrors(If equipped):These mirrors warm up to remove ice,mist
and fog when the rear windowdefrostis activated;attemptingto remove
ice with an ice scraper or to readjust the mirrorglass if it is frozenin place,
couldcause damage to the glass and mirrors.
Fold-AwayMirrors:Pull the side mirrors in carefully when drivingthrougha
narrowspace,like an automatic car wash.

SPECIFICATIONS
Message Center
(If equipped)
With the ignition in the ON position,the message center (located on your
instrument cluster) displaysimportantvehicle informationthrougha
constant monitor of vehiclesystems.
The premium display severityindicator helps you determine the natureof
the information being displayed: redfor high severity,amber for medium
severity,non-lit for information only.
Youcan select differentfeatures for the messagecenterto display by using the message center controls
locatedin the center of the instrument panel.
Pressthe SETUP control to display SYSTEMS CHECK, DISPLAY (odometer/speedometer), TEXT SIZE
(normal/large), UNITS (english/metric),LANGUAGE, and OIL MINDER START VALUE.Press the SELECT
controlto select functions in the SETUP menus.Press the INFO control to displaythe trip odometer,
distance to empty,averagefuel economy,the instantaneous fuel economy and trip elapseddrive time.
Pressthe RESET control to reset the functions shown in the INFO and SETUP menus.

TRUNK RELEASE
Your trunk releaseis locatedon the trim panel of the driver’sdoor;press the
controlto open the trunk.
ELECTRONIC COMPAS S (If equipped)
Located in the overhead console,this compass may be affected when you
drivenear large buildings,bridges,power lines and powerful broadcast
antennas.To make compassadjustments,please consult your Owner’s Guide.
POWER SEATS (If eq ui pped)
The power seat controls are locatedinside each front door.Press the top
controlto tilt the seat back forward or backward.Slide the lower control to
move the seat forwardor backward.Press either end of the lowercontrolto
move the seat cushionup or down.
REMOTE ENTRY SYSTEM
The remote entry system allows you to lock or unlock all vehicle
doors without a key.
Unlocking the doors
Pressthis control to unlock the driver’s door.The interior lamps will
illuminate with the ignitionOFF.Press the controla second time
withinfive seconds to unlock all doors.
Locking the doors
Pressthis control to lock all doors.Pressagain to confirm that all
doors are locked.The horn will chirp and the parkinglamps and tail
lamps will flash.
Opening the trunk
Pressthis control once to open the trunk.
Sounding the panic alarm
The panic feature operateswith the key in the OFF position.
Pressthis control to activate the alarm.To deactivate the alarm,press the
controlagain, or turn the ignition to ON.

SCAN/SHUF - Pressto hear a briefsampling of all

4| SEEK FUNCTION
TheSEEKfunctioncontrol worksin radio,tape
andCD modes.In radio mode,pressthe left
arrow to findthe nextlistenable stationdown
thefrequencyband;pressthe rightarrow to find
thenextlistenablestationup the frequency
band.In tapeor CD mode,press the left arrow
forthepreviousselectionor track;presstheright
arrow for the next selectionor track.

Tomove to the next frequencydownthe radio
band,pressthe left arrow. Pressthe rightarrow
to move up the band to the next station;
holdthe arrow to move quickly throughthe
otherstations.
6| BASS + TREBLE CONTROL
Pressthe BASS or TREB control,then press the
left SEL-TEXTarrow to decrease the level of
BASSor TREB;press the right SEL-TEXT arrow
to increasethe level.
7| BALANCE+ FADE
Press BAL andusetheleftSEL-TEXTarrowto shift
thesound to the left speakers;pressthe right
SEL-TEXTarrowto shift soundto theright
speakers. Press FADE and the rightSEL-TEXT
arrow to shiftsound to the frontspeakers;press
theleftSEL-TEXT arrowto shift soundto therear.
8| RADIO STATIONMEMORY PRESET
Thesecontrolscan be usedto select up to six
presetAM stations and twelve FM stations (six
in FM1 and six in FM2). Choosethe frequency
bandwith the AM/FM select control.Selecta
station,then press and hold the memory preset
control until the sound returns. Your selection
willbe held in the memory.
9| EJECTINGTHE CD
Pressthis button to stop and eject a CD.

FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF SWITCH
If you’reinvolved in a collision and attempt to restartyour vehicle,your engine may crank but not
start. That may mean the fuel shut-off switch has been activated.You’ll find the switch on the left
side of the trunk,behind the left rear tail lightand the trunk liner.For information on resetting,
pleaseconsultyour Owner’sGuide.

LOCATIO N OF THE SPAR E TIRE
AND JACK
Your vehicle will be equipped with either
a full-size spare or a temporary spare.The
temporary spare is smaller than a regular
tire and designed for emergency use only.
Eitherspare will be locatedon ashelf in the
trunk,just under the rear window.The jack
may be located behind the mini spare tire or
behindthe full size sparetire.
FUS ES
If electrical components in your vehicle are not
working, a fuse may have blown.Blown fuses
are identifiedby abroken wire within the fuse.
Tolearn about changing fuses,please consult
your Owner’sGuide for details.
UNLEADED FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS
Use“Regular”unleaded gasoline with an
(R+M)/2octane ratingof 87. Mercury does
not recommendusing“Regular”gasoline
with an octane ratingof 86or lower in high
altitudeareas.
TIR E PRESSURE
Adjustthe tire pressure to the recommended
specificationsfoundon the SafetyCompliance
Certification Label.When checking pressure,use
an accurate tire pressure gauge. Check tire
pressure when the tires are cold, after the
vehiclehas been parked for at least one hour or
has been driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km).
Warning:Improperly inflated tires can affect
vehiclehandling and can fail suddenly,possibly
resulting in loss of vehiclecontrol.
