PISTONS AND OIL PAN

INSPECTION
2) Measure the diameter of the journal as shown
in the illustration to find the clearance between
the journal and main bearing.
.Unit: mm (in.)
3) If the clearance exceeds the limit, install a new
bearing and check the clearance again.
4) If the clearance still exceeds the limit, grind
the journal to 0.25 mm (0.009 8 in.), 0.50 mm
(0.019 7 in.) or 0.75 mm (0.029 5 in.)
undersize and use undersize main bearing.

CAUTION
Grind all the journals of one crankshaft to the
same undersize.
Finish the journal fillets to a radius of 2 mm
(0.08 in.).
