MAINTENANCE AND
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Plug the ac line cord into the proper ac receptacle (see the table on the following
page for the ac voltage and line cord compatibility). The battery charger performs a
power-up self-test. During the self-test, the LED charging indicators illuminate,
alternating red then green, three times to indicate a successful power-up
sequence.
2. Place the battery, or radio with battery, into the charger pocket. The red LED will
light, which indicates that the battery is being rapid charged. When rapid charging
is complete, the red LED will go out and the green LED will illuminate. An
illuminated green LED indicates that the battery is being slow charged.
3. Several different LED conditions can occur. The following list describes a lighted
LED, and the corresponding condition.
a. alternate red, then green (three times) — indicates a successful power-up
sequence, or the recovery from a fault condition.
b. constant red — indicates the battery is being rapid charged.
c. constant green — indicates that the battery is being slow charged.
d. flashing red and/or green LED — indicates a battery fault condition. If a fault
condition exists:
(1) pull the ac line plug from the ac receptacle to remove power from the
charger;
(2) remove the battery from the charger, and clean the charging contacts on
the charger and on the battery;
(3) restore power to the battery charger; and
(4) reinsert the battery into the charger. If the battery still exhibits a fault
condition, replace the battery. The faulty battery can be checked by an
authorized Motorola facility.
NOTE
Batteries will rapid charge within the temperature window 10°C to
40°C. Outside of that temperature window, the battery will be slow
charged and the green LED will flash.
