TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect
operations
are
often
mistaken
for
trouble
and
malfunctions.
If
you
think
that
there
is
something
wrong
with
this
component,
check
the
points
below.
Sometimes
the
trouble
may
lie
in
another
component.
investigate
the
other
components
and
electrical
appliances
being
used.
Ifthe
trouble
cannot
be
rectified
even
after
exercising
the
checks
listed
below,
ask
your
nearest
PIONEER
authorized
service
center
or
your
dealer
tc
carry out repair work.
Symptom
Cause
Remedy
No power supplied to unit.
e Power plug is disconnected from outiet.
® The component power plug has been plugged
into another component power outlet (e.g.
timer, etc.) but power to that unit is
disconnected.
® Insert plug securely into outlet.
@ Turn on power to the other component.
No sound.
No sound from one speaker.
Cannot record tapes.
Cannot perform tape copying.

® Connecting cords are disconnected from
terminals, or connected incorrectly.
® Terminals, or connecting cords pin plugs are
dirty.
® Input selector button is not set to the desired
input source.
® Operation of other components is incorrect.
© Both SPEAKERS selector buttons are set to
“OFF” (HB).
© MUTING button is in the on position (the
indicator is lit). (A-403 only)
Connecting cords or speaker cords are
disconnected on that side.
® BALANCE contro} has been adjusted to one
side.
® Connections are incorrect.
© Operation of cassette deck is incorrect.
® Operation of cassette decks is incorrect.

® Connect correctly.
© Clean terminals and plugs.
® Set the input selector button correctly (PHONO,
TUNER, CD, LINE, TAPE 1/DAT, TAPE 2
MONITOR).
® Consult the operating instructions for the other
components.
e Set one button or both buttons to ON (2m).
e Set MUTING button to the off position (the
indicator goes off).
® Connect securely.
® Adjust BALANCE control to center position.
@ Reconnect properly.
