What to do if my Polaris 500 engine turns over but fails to start?
- BBenjamin McguireJul 29, 2025
If your Polaris Offroad Vehicle's engine turns over but fails to start, the issue might be due to several reasons. First, check if you're out of fuel and refuel if necessary. Inspect the fuel filter for clogs and clean or replace it. If there's water in the fuel, drain the fuel system and refuel. Replace old or non-recommended fuel with fresh, recommended fuel. Inspect the spark plugs for fouling or defects and replace them if needed. Also, ensure there's a spark at the spark plug; if not, replace the plugs. Low battery voltage can also be a culprit, so recharge the battery to 12.8 VDC. Finally, if you've overused the choke, inspect, clean, and/or replace the spark plug.
