Fault Finding: Chart 5
Is the T&PR valve continuously
discharging water?
Is the water pressure more than
80% of the T&PR valve rating?
1. Pressure limiting valve missing or
faulty.
Fit or replace pressure limiting valve.
2. Replace the T&PR valve if required.
Is the heater of sufficient capacity
for the customer‟s needs?
Are there any plumbing leaks,
crossed water connections or
dripping taps?
1. Repair leaks.
2. Isolate crossed water connections.
The heat pump is not suitable for
off peak connection. Connect to
continuous tariff or off peak 2,
if available.

Is the correct T&PR valve fitted?
Replace the T&PR valve with one of
the correct pressure rating.
Do NOT use reconditioned T&PR
valves.
1. Check for a crossed water
connection.
2. Replace the T&PR valve.
Is the water temperature at the
T&PR valve 60ºC or higher?
Is a tempering valve fitted?
Is the heater connected to an
off peak tariff?
Recommend a water heater of
sufficient capacity to meet the
customer‟s needs.
