For some models, a gas chip is not installed into a
PCB. After vent installation is complete, a gas chip
for non-common vent applications should be installed
for those models. The gas chip is shipped with the
tankless water heater.
WARNING:
DO NOT operate Rheem tankless water heater for non-
common vent applications without the gas chip for non-
common vent. DO NOT operate Rheem tankless water
heaters for common vent applications without the gas chip
for common vent.
Make sure electrical power is disconnected and turn
off gas and water to the water heater.
Remove the front panel on the water heater.
Find a gas chip on the control board. Find a connector
for a gas chip located middle right on the control board.
Find a plastic bag located on the back of the front
cover. One gas chip is for common vent and the other
is for non-common vent. Remove the gas chip for non-
common vent from the plastic bag. Gripping the chip,
carefully align and insert the chip into the connector for
the gas chip on the control board. DO NOT force.
Replace the front cover panel.
Connect power to the water, and turn on gas and water
to the water heater.
