cooling
air
flow
on
ground
is not
cnough to
provide
the
necessary cooling for a
longcr period.
Therefole it is necassary
to observe carcfully
the
cylinder
hggl
temperaturc
(CHT)
during
breal
in procedure
to avoid
overbearing.
Beforc
exceeding
tie
maxiorum allowed CHT
of 250
o
C / 480
o
F intenupt
the
run
and cool down
thc engine at idlc for
approximately
one
minute and
continue where
you
have intefiupted.
Be sure to use
a
safe
run-rp area- to anchor
aircraft
at
those
points
approved
by the airframe
manufacturer, and to
have someone
present
who
is
able to shut
off
lhe engine instandy
and to
prcvent
unauthorizerl
people
entcring
the
duDger
area.
Proper
clorhing, ear
plotection
etc, should be used on any engine run-up
test.
After this
procedure
the idle has to be adjusted. Then
short
take-offs
can be conducted.
After
a
few
short
full-load take-offs, but
not later than 2
hours total
running
rime,
the
cylinder head nuts
have to
be
rc-torqued to
22
Nm
(195
in.lb.). For
this
procedurc
the cylinder cowl
(if
any) has to be
taken off.
