6) Anlaß
Die bisherige Felderfahrung zeigte, daß Angaben in den derzeit gültigen Betriebs-
handbüchern als auch Wartungshandbüchern nicht beachtet wurden. Daher sind
zusätzliche Informationen über die Durchführung der Ölstandskontrolle für ROTAX
Motoren der Type 912 (Serie) und 914 (Serie) notwendig.
Durch nicht richtige Kontrolle wurden vermehrt verfälschte Ölstände festgestellt.
7) Zuständigkeit
Alle Besitzer und Betreiber von ROTAX Motoren der Typen 912 und 914 Serie.
8) Fristen
Bei der Vorflugkontrolle bzw. beim nächsten Wartungsereignis.
9) Abhilfe
Durchführen der nachstehenden Arbeitsanweisung.
10) Durchführung
■ ACHTUNG: Diese Arbeiten sind entsprechend dem letztgültigen, der Motor-
type entsprechenden Wartungshandbuch sowie der nachste-
henden Arbeitsanweisung durchzuführen.
11) Arbeitsanweisung:
Bei der
- Ölstandskontrolle und
- vor der etwaigen Ergänzung des Ölvorrates
ist wie folgt vorzugehen:

▲ WARNUNG: Zündung "Aus". Vor Durchdrehen der Luftschraube sind beide
Zündkreise auszuschalten, und das Flugzeug einzubremsen.
Das Cockpit ist mit einer sachkundigen Person zu besetzen.
Nur bei kaltem oder handwarmem Motor durchführen!
Verbrennungsgefahr am Ölmeßstab usw. !

6) Reason
Field experience indicates that procedures in the current Operator's Manual and also
in the Maintenance Manuals are not being followed. Therefore additional and detailed
information regarding the checking of the oil level on ROTAX engines of type 912 and
914 are considered to be necessary.
Incorrect oil level readings are being caused by incorrect oil level check procedures.
7) Responsibility
All owners and users of ROTAX engines of the type 912 and 914 series.
8) Compliance
At the pre-flight check or the next maintenance event.
9) Remedy
By carrying out the following instructions.

ATTENTION: These tasks have to be carried out in accordance with the
current relevant Maintenance Manual as well as to the
following instructions.
11) Instructions:
Proceed as follows for
- checking the oil level
- replenishing of oil level

▲ WARNING: Ignition "OFF". Before cranking the propeller switch off both
ignition circuits and anchor the aircraft. Have the cockpit
occupied by a competent person.
Checks have to be carried out on the cold engine only. Risk of
burns by hot oil level gauge etc. !
