Overview

This document provides a quick start guide and maintenance instructions for the Shark Powered Lift-Away DuoClean vacuum cleaner, model NV801Q.

The Shark Powered Lift-Away DuoClean is a versatile vacuum cleaner designed for both floor-to-ceiling cleaning and specialized tasks. Its primary function is to effectively clean various floor types and above-floor areas using its DuoClean technology.

Function Description:

The vacuum operates in two main modes:

  1. Upright Mode: This mode is used for general carpet and hard-floor cleaning. The user places their foot on the floor nozzle, tilts the handle back, selects the appropriate floor setting, and presses the power button.
  2. Lift-Away Mode: This portable mode is ideal for cleaning stairs, above-floor areas, and hard-to-reach places. To activate, the user presses the Lift-Away Release button to detach the pod from the floor nozzle. Specialized cleaning accessories can then be attached to the handle or wand for targeted cleaning.

The core of its cleaning capability is the DuoClean Technology, which features two distinct brushrolls working in tandem:

  • Soft Roller: This front roller directly engages with floors to remove large particles, small particles, and stuck-on dust.
  • Bristle Brush: This deeper-cleaning brush works in conjunction with the Soft Roller to remove embedded fine dirt from carpets.

Usage Features:

The vacuum offers different settings optimized for various floor types:

  • Hard Floor: In this setting, the Soft Roller provides gentle cleaning on bare floors. The brushroll spins slowly to assist with debris pickup.
  • Carpet/Low Pile: This setting optimizes brushroll speed and suction for carpets. The brushroll spins faster to pick up debris below the surface.
  • Thick Carpet/Area Rug: This setting provides optimized brushroll speed and suction specifically for thicker carpets and delicate area rugs. For deep cleaning per ASTM F 608 (embedded dirt in carpet), the Carpet/Low Pile mode is recommended.

The vacuum comes with several accessories to enhance its versatility:

  • Handle
  • Hose
  • Vacuum Pod
  • Wand
  • Motorized Floor Nozzle
  • Pet Multi-Tool
  • Pet Power Brush
  • Duster Crevice Tool
  • Under-Appliance Wand

Assembly:

Assembly is straightforward:

  1. Insert the wand into the motorized floor nozzle.
  2. Insert the handle into the wand.
  3. Place the pod onto the wand and slide it down to connect.
  4. Connect the hose to the back of the pod, pressing until it clicks into place. Accessories can be stored on the posts on the pod.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance:

  • Empty Dust Cup: The dust cup should be emptied after each use.
  • Filter Washing: Filters should be washed every 3 months to maintain strong suction. They should be rinsed with water and allowed to air-dry completely. Loose dirt from foam filters can be tapped out as needed between washes.
  • Brushroll Maintenance: The brushroll garage lid can be opened by pushing release buttons, allowing the brushroll to be lifted out. Scissors can be run along the guide in the brushroll to cut away any string, hair, or debris.
  • Soft Roller Maintenance: The Soft Roller can be released by sliding the Eject Roller button. Any debris should be cleared away before sliding the Soft Roller back into place.
