Disposal of batteries
Environmental damage through in correct
disposal of the batteries!
Batteries should not be disposed of with
normal household waste.
They may contain poisonous heavy metals and must be
disposed of in accordance with the rules for the treatment
of hazardous waste. The chemical symbols for heavy
metals are as follows: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury,
Pb = lead. Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of
batteries at a collection point in their community/city dis-
trict or at a retail store. The purpose of this obligation is to
ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environmentally
congruent manner.
