Proper eye protection

a must. Non-fogging, vented
goggles or a face screen are recommended. Their use
reduces the risk of eye injury.
Continuou~
exposure to the high noise levels involved
in
using a chain saw may cause hearing impairment. Protect
your hearing with sound barriers, either ear plugs or noise-
suppressing ear muffs.
Wear
an
approved safety hard hat to protect your head.
YOUR SAW
STIHL-Oilomatic-chain, guide bar and sprocket must
match each other and the engine unit.
Attachments - Only attachments supplied by STIHL or
expressly approved
by
ST,IHL
for use with the specific
STIHL saw models are authorized. Although certain
unauthorized attachments are useable with the STIHL
powerhead, their use may
in
fact
be
extremely dangerous.
Assembly -
If
your saw is not assembled
at
the time of
purchase, see page 4 for instructions.
Inspection -
You
should always"lnspect your saw before
starting
it.
Insure that bar and chain are securely mounted
and properly tensioned. See page 4 for guide bar and
chain mounting.
Make sure all the controls and safety devices (see
illustration) are working properly.
To
reduce risk
of
injury,
never operate a chain saw that
is
damaged, improperly
adjusted or not completely and securely assembled.
