17 During Operation
Retaining Latch (1) and Trigger Switch (2)
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, keep hands,
feet and other parts of the body away from the cutting
blades. Do not touch the cutting blades while the battery is
inserted. Never touch moving cutting blades with your hand
or any part of your body, @ 6.5.2. Keep bystanders out of
the area while testing the controls.
To test the retaining latch and trigger switch:
Remove the battery.
Unlock the retaining latch by pushing it forward with your
thumb.
Hold the retaining latch in the unlocked position.
Depress the trigger switch.
Release the retaining latch and trigger switch.
The retaining latch and trigger switch should return to their
respective locked positions. If they do not, take the hedge
trimmer to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
repaired before use.
If you can depress the trigger switch without first unlocking
the retaining latch, take the hedge trimmer to an
authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before
use.
Insert the battery.
Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both hands, your
fingers wrapped tightly around the handles. Unlock the
retaining latch and depress the trigger switch.
The hedge trimmer should switch on. If it does not, take
the hedge trimmer to an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer to be repaired before use.
Release the trigger switch.
The hedge trimmer should switch off.
If the cutting attachment does not stop after you release
the trigger switch, remove the battery and take the hedge
trimmer to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
repaired before use.
17.1 Adjusting the Angle of the Cutting Blades
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, keep hands,
feet and other parts of the body away from the cutting blades
while making adjustments. Hold the cutting blades by the
swivel handle. Remove the battery before attempting to
adjust the angle of the cutting blades. Keep bystanders out
of the area.
The angle of the cutting blades can be adjusted to 2 different
positions upwards and 4 different positions downwards to
suit the application and the height and reach of the user.
To adjust the angle of the cutting blades:
Switch off the hedge trimmer, @ 15.2.
Remove the battery, @ 14.2.
Hold the swivel handle (2) firmly.
Depress the cutting blades release button (1) at both
sides and hold it in this unlocked position.
Move the cutting blades to the required angle.
Release the cutting blades release button (1) at both
sides.
Move the swivel handle (2) up and down until the cutting
blades engage.
That completes the adjustment.
