10.6.2) Adjustment of the Presser Foot Height
Regular Needle Bar
Use the main shaft handle to rotate the main
shaft. According to embroidery fabric, check
the relations between the presser foot and the
needle, and spin the main shaft handle to
locate the needle bar at the lowest position
(main shaft angle is 178°).
As in the figure, remove the head face plate
and loosen the fixing screw for the presser foot
to the extent that the presser foot can move up
and down. Place the 1mm-thick gauge on the
needle plate, and tightly fasten the fixing screw
while gently pressing the presser foot.
10.7) RELATIONS BETWEEN PRESSER
FOOT AND NEEDLE
10.7.1) Relations Between Presser Foot and
Needle/Embroidery Fabric
Before the needle is inserted into the embroidery
fabric, the presser foot shall press the embroidery
fabric to enable the needle and the upper thread
penetrate the embroidery fabric in a stable
condition. In addition, when the needle escapes
from the fabric, the relations between the presser
foot and the needle location are same to those of
needle insertion.
10.7.2) When the Presser Foot Is Too High
When Needle Is Inserted
The figure shows the presser foot's failure to press the fabric when the needle penetrates the fabric.
Therefore, the penetrating condition of the needle is very unstable.
When Needle Escapes
The figure shows the presser foot's failure to press the fabric when the needle escapes from the fabric.
Since the fabric and the needle are lifted at the same time, there exists some space between the fabric and
the needle plate. Therefore, thread break, stitch skip, and unstable thread tightening might result.
