Instrument
Illumination
Rheostat

Turn
the knob
clockwise
to illuminate
the
instruments.
Further
rotation
of
the knob diminishes
the light
intensity
-
operates
only when
the lighting
switch
is'ON'.
Fuel
Gauge
(17)
The fuel
gauge indicates
the
approximate
contents
of the
fuel
tank. When
the
ignition
switch is
turned
'ON'
the
pointer
moves
slowly
across
the dial
taking
up to
one minute
to ieach
a
steady
reading
which
it will
maintain
regardless
of
vehicle move-
ment,
until the ignition
is
switched'OFF'.
Ammeter
(18)
The ammeter indicates
the
rate
of battery
charge
or discharge.
The
charging rate
is indicated
when
the
pointei
moves
to
the
left-hand
side of
'Zero'and
discharge,
by movement
to the
right.
Glove Box
Lock

Th9
g]ov9-box may
be
unlocked
by
turning
the key
a
quarter
turn
clockwise and
opened
by
depressing
the-locking
bariel.
Scuttle
Vent Control

Fresh
air
is
admitted
to the
heater
duct
through
the
open
scuttle
ventilator.
This
is
opened
by
pulling the lcver
(20)
rear-
wards
and closed
by
pushing it
forwards.
when
the
ventilator is
closed, the heater
unit
recirculates
air already
in
the
vehicle.

Cold Start Mixture
Control
(21)
This
control
is
used to enrich
the
fuel mixture
for
easy
starting
from
cold. The
control
should
not be used
if the
engine
is
warm,
and
may not
be
necessary
in warm climates.

Ignition/Starter
Switch

The
combined ignition and starter switch,
Fig.
4
is
operated
by
the
key
used
for locking the driver's door.
The switch has four
positions: 4,
auxiliary;
l,
off
(in
which position
the key may
be
withdrawn); 2,
ignition; 3,
start.
