2. SAFETY MEASURES AND GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
2.1. BEFORE USING YOUR BATEC FOR THE FIRST TIME
Before using your Batec for the first time, read this user manual carefully.
Don’t exceed the maximum weight of 110 kg. This includes the user’s
weight and any other object being carried.
The Batec isn't compatible with all wheelchairs on the market. Before
installing it, check the current Batec Compatibility Table on our website
(www.batec-mobility.com).
It is important to start out slowly the first time you use your Batec in order
to learn the sensations you get and become familiar with it. Each new
manoeuvre is a potential risk. Be particularly careful with turns and speed.
Choose a calm place to use your Batec the first time.
Have someone help you become familiar with your Batec. Each new
manoeuvre can put you at risk of injury. Never use your Batec alone until
you have gained the necessary skill level. When someone is helping you, it
is important for them to have read the user manual beforehand as well.
Safe use of the Batec requires training and experience.
The Batec is a medical device classified as a technical aid for mobility and
we recommend consulting your local regulations on the circulation of such
vehicles. Batec Mobility S.L. can provide you with the Declaration of
Conformity as a medical device or certification as a technical aid, if
required.
Check local laws regarding add-on handbikes and wheelchairs, as they may
vary depending on your location.
Always do a safety check on your Batec before each use. To do this, check:
- Conditions of the fixed or removable axles on the rear wheels of your
wheelchair.
- The Velcro on the seat and backrest of your wheelchair.
- Tyre pressure on your wheelchair. If it is too low, there is a greater risk
of tipping over and greater wear (recommended pressure for
wheelchair: see side of tyre).
