3.0 System Memory Requirements
The Model CL57 SX has a minimum of 2MB of memory installed on the system
board at the time of shipment. The memory capacity can be expanded by
installing one or two 2MB, 4MB, or 8MB IC DRAM cards into the slots
located on right side of the system. However, the maximum memory capacity
of the Model CL57 SX cannot exceed 16MB. Therefore, the total memory
capacity only can be 16MB even if both slots are occupied with 8MB IC DRAM
cards.
If a memory error occurs, the Model CL57 SX relocates system memory in 1MB
blocks. If the POST detects a memory error in the first 640KB of system
memory, the entire 1MB of memory is deactivated and an error code is
displayed.
Note:
Customer diagnostics is capable of logically eliminating defective
memory so that no memory error code appears at power-on reset.
After replacing a defective memory module on the system board, or whenever
an IC DRAM card is added or removed from the system, run the
Automatic
configuration
to store the new system configuration.
